INGLES
SIMPLE PAST VS PAST CONTINUOS
SIMPLE PAST

1. In my opinion, the simple past is mainly used for actions completed in the past, as well
as for recent past actions, that is, on the same day in which they are spoken.

2. When we work in simple past we have

to divide the verbs into two groups the first
group are the regular verbs and the second
group are the irregular verbs. as we already
know:
3. regular verbs are those that end in ED
and meet a rule. On the other hand, regular
verbs do not comply with rules, which is
why sometimes it is difficult to learn those
verbs, irregular verbs change completely
when they are in the past.

4. In the structure of the simple past in affirmative put a subject + a verb in the past, if that
verb is irregular it would end in ed and if it is regular it would end in the second column
of the irregular verbs. For the negative part we tended a subject + DIDN'T + the verb in
its base form + a complement. And interrogative would begin with the auxiliary of past
(did) + subject + the verb in its base form + the complement.

5. The auxiliary was used in negative sentences and interrogative sentences and also for
some answers.
EXAMPLE
IRREGULAR VERB REGULAR VERB
HE CLOSED THE DOOR THEY ATE PIZZA
+ He closed the door + They a te pizza
- He did not the door - They didn´t eat

? Did he close the door ? ? Did they eat pizza?

Yes, he closed the door No, they did

6.This class served us a lot for the

whole class since we learned how
to use the simple past, the
appropriate structure to create
sentences, in the different ways in
which it is used and how to use it
in irregular and regular verbs.

PAST CONTINUOS

7. In my opinion The use of continuous past is for an action in the past, but
referring to its process, that is to say how the action was carried out in other
words as it was happening.

8. For this time we have to have presentye the next thing we

have to work with the verb to be in the past in which we have the
was and the were. The was will be used in the singular and the were
in the plural

9. in the affirmative structure we use the subject + was or were + a verb that
always ends in ing. In the negative structure the subject + the negation of the was
and were in negative form (wasnt - werent) + the verb in ing + the complement.
