We want to thank you very much for hosting our 4th graders
at the temple. They were struck by the beauty of the temple
and the statues of all the deities. You gave them an excel-
lent introduction to the beliefs of Hinduism and many talked
about what they had learned thereafter. Many of the ideas
were new to the children and they were very interested in

I was talking the trip over with my students today, and they
were very eager to share how much they had noticed and
learned. We were all so impressed with your deep knowl-
edge, too. We were lucky to have such a guide. I will not
forget what you said about the Gita being a “Spark Notes”
for the Vedas! We hope to be able to learn from you again,
maybe next year.

Thank you so much for inviting us to the temple and providing
the students with such a thoughtful and interesting tour. As
in past years, the students came back to school excited to
learn more about Hinduism.

From: Cynthia Chamees., Salisbury High School

I really enjoyed my visit to the Temple yesterday. The building
itself was absolutely beautiful and I learned a lot. Before this
visit, I had little idea that a Hindu Temple especially the Sri
Siva Vishnu Temple was so close to DC.When I walked into
the actual worshipping area, I was completely blown away by
just the beauty of it. It really sank in as I walked around the
shrines. For the first time in a long time, I was able to almost
completely stop thinking and just enjoy what I was seeing.
And I will always remember that. Thank you for opening the
Temple doors to us. And I may come visit again sometime.
Also, thank you for the food and the prayer to Ganesha
for help in our exams because we will definitely need it! I
definitely learned quite a bit, but the thing that surprised me
most was the fact that Hindu Priest don’t have a hierarchy or

• I am a Pakistani-Muslim-American, dancing Bharatnatyam for several
years, watching Hindi movies since I was a baby. I felt extremely welcomed
and was excited when I saw each of the gods as I am familiar to their
stories. I actually found many similarities between Hinduism and Islam.
It is our stubborn attitudes and stereotyped beliefs that stop our people
from learning about each other and the peaceful relation that they can
maintain. I specially appreciated how you took a few moments to think of
the answers to the questions asked. Most people lack this characteristic and
in consequence cause more confusion which leads to more hate. I hope to
come to visit the temple again very soon.

• I would first of all like to thank you for presenting your faith to
us in such a welcoming manner. Hinduism was the first faith
we studied in our World Religion class and I have found it the
most interesting and rewarding out of all we explored. Your
wonderful presentation merely reinforced that sentiment in
my mind. I have been experiencing plenty of stress in my senior
year. However I felt both moved and remarkably at peace when
I was at the Temple. I felt very welcome by the many people
worshipping there who smiled and greeted me warmly when
I passed them There was no sense of exclusiveness among the
people worshipping there and that made the experience much
better.
