As observed, most of the students who did not participate in MAPEH class are male students. 20
out of 30 male students of Grade 7- Saint Lorenzo Ruiz did not participate in the Third Quarter
performance task in MUSIC and P.E which they are going to sing a Visayan Folk song and
perform a fundamental position of the arms and feet.Hence, when students would not perform ,
they have no points or score in their Performance Task in MUSIC and P.E which is 60 % of their
grades so, they might fail in the two components.

your colleagues for previous Learning is a very complex process it demands a balance between the teacher and the
startegies/interventions used to solve learner. Teacher has been the sole owner of the knowledge in the school days, they provided
this problem with what the learners had to learn and how or why it is so.The lecture method was the most
prominent form of instruction and the students were mere receivers. With the science of human

problem or similar problems Classroom participation is a feature of many course designs. It can result in insightful
comments and interesting connections being made by students and can foster high level of
energy and enthusiam in the classroom learning environment. However, poorly managed
participation can also lead to instructor frustration and student confusion. A teacher may teach
well and give all the information in the world but if the child or student does not participate in
the lesson we will not be able to grasp all the given information and even if they can it may be
only for a short duration without in depth undesrtanding. When there is active participation
from the students not only does the students learn but the teacher feels the vibe’s as well and
the flow of the lesson is spontaneous.
Class presentation is important because students can share thier ideas and build the
confident. Moreover they get to learn more by exchanging the information, and participation in
the class. The one who is very introvert may not learn can’t participate in the class, they will lack
behind. A student who participates frequently will learn more and always participates in the
class.O’Leary and O’Leary (1977) pointed out that “A teacher’s smiles,words of encouragement
praise, evolution and silent’s are powerful allies in effecting how the students behave and
change socially and academically”.
Teaching Music,Arts, P.E and Health creatively is a challenging as laying down the learning
map for other equally important core subjects like Math and Science. Teahing MAPEH calls for
Innovative methods in ways that keep students engaged and interested in the material. In the
short-attention span world of the 21st century education setting, it can be harder than ever to
keep students excited and engrossed in learning MAPEH. Finding new and innovative methods
of teaching is a crucial skill for high school teachers. But applying innovative learning and
attention-management techniques to classes is a win-win for both students and teachers.
Teaching MAPEH creatively necessitates visualization. Knowledge that is organized and
connected to concepts with a goal of mastery, including the ability to visualize the concepts, can
lead to the ability to transfer knowledge and lead to a deeper, longer-term understanding of
what is taught. Teaching students visualization skills help them understand, recall an think
critically about MAPEH. Well- managed use of classroom teachnology is also useful in MAPEH
instruction. Computers, tablets, cellphones and digital cameras can enhance a student’s learning
experience. Possible uses of classroom technology iclude using video games to tach MAPEH that
allow students to explore the subject matter usinf film, audio and even software they create. It is
important however that during class, teachers should move around the classroom to monitor
and ensure students are using thier devices appropriately. Lastly, teaching MAPEH creatively
involves peer instruction, discussion groups and collaborative problem solving. Devoting time to
active learning projects is one way to get students thinking, talking and sharing information in
the classroom.Innovative methods of teaching MAPEH can help students get the most out of
their education and the MAPEH teacher’s quest for innovative learning fo students.( According
to a Teacher from Diosdado Macapagal High School in Mexico, Pampanga).
Based on the experience of my co-MAPEH teacher Mr.Reyno Delda,he used to solve about
this problem among students by introducing the grading system of 60 % Performance,
Observing and giving correspoding grade through rubrics during the activity, video presentation
for thm to come up initial ideas in the group, provide enough area or space for themm to
practice on a given time, facilitate on planning of thier performance, demonstration method, give
disciplinary action and lastly reward system.
Through the literature review and interview of Mr. Delda I found various strategies on how to
help students paticipate more in class. I would try as much strategies as possible and then see or
find out which of them is the most successful/effective.
After looking at the literature of the class participation, Teaching MAPEH creatively and
Step 3. Develop a strategy/invention Interview with my co-MAPEH teacher. I framed my action research question as:
Questions
Based on the studies, along with your Q1. How does self-efficacy affect the achievement of the students?
experiences, develop a strategy/intervention Q2. Does cooperating learning improve student’s attitude toward school?
to solve the problem. Then, implement the Q3. What strategies should we use improve the classroom participation?
strategy/intervention in your classroom Q4. How will we make them to activity participate in the class?
So I made some appropriate tools that I have used to determine the cause of this problem are as
followed:
1.Questionnaire
2. Class Presentation
 Intervention Strategy in the Questionnaire tool:
 Reinforcement
 Positive Feedback
 Innovative Method of teaching
Post Data( Figure 3A : Percentage of the students in questionnaire after the intervention)
I continuously reinforced and gave positive feedback to the students. I used to be very frank
with the students and I used to say always that, if they have any problems, you should solve the
problems and face it. I speak with them politely, listen to them, and respond them positively.
Every lesson, I tried and see to it that I can give them video clip or audio presentation, show
pictures and bring real objects in order them to have ideas and learn about the lesson. After the
intervention applied I could see the positive behavior in every student. They came forward,
shared thier views in clss, they did not hesitate to come in the front of the class. Here in the
baseline data( Figure 1 ) there were only of the students were participation in all the activites
provided by the teacherand after the intervention applied number of students increased to
______ so here shows vast differencces between before and after.
 Class Presentation
Baseline Data ( Figure 3A : Percentage of the student in the class presentation)
To check student’s participation in the class I collected data on number of students participating
in the class presentation, when analyzing the baseline data, there where only ____ of the
students who actively participated in the class presentation. There were very few students who
wanted to come and present their work. The same students came to present repeatedly and the
majority of that too were ____ most of the other students shunned away from any form of
presentation. It was very shocking for me to see these things so intervention was very necessary
for me to apply.
So some of the strategies that I have included in the class are as follows:
 Iniatiated class discussions on the lesson taught
 Made students to work in groups
 Give enough time and space for practice
 Rubrics for the performances
 Demonstration Method
Post Data( Figure 3B : Percentage of the student in the class presentation)
After the Intervention I found that the percentage of students doing presentation has increased
from _______________ . The students were now willing to do presentation in individual or even
group and also thier quality of presentation has improved. To my surprise even the shy and quite
students were also actively participating in the presentation and they were gaining confidence
to face the class.

in the class.

6. I do not participate due

to shyness.

I made a list of questions with the objective to get the anwer from various respondents. In
my baseline data I passed a questionnaire each and asked my students to fill up the forms. In
the class of Gade 7, among the three sections, we decided to choose the section Saint Lorenzo
Ruiz for they have the most students who did not particpate in the class. Going through the
questionnaire I could see that there was no improvement of class participation .In the above
question number one everyone have written strongly agree. May be they could not understand
the question or they are may be confused with the question so, all the students have strongly
agreed. And in third question, there are more numbers of students who sometimes agree, and
very less number of students who strongly disagree, and so on. of the students said they did not
participate due to shyness , so my first challenge would be to try and build confidence in them.
I could see drastic changes in all the tools that i have used in my action research this is because I
Step 5. Make a Decision have used a variety of interventation methods to overcoem the problems. Some of the most

- Oral and Group Presentation
- Motivation
Conclusion:
“Once the students felt that I was excited to teach them, they slowly began to show the same
zest to learn”. Action Research has being deeply rooted in our Education system which cannot
be desolated in any way. It is undoubtedly an invicible weapon, a very natural and a
comprehensive key to unlock the way towards acquiring knowledge in a real and healthy
manner. And by my effective intervention, that I have used, by motivation, positive
reinforcement, positive feedback and by using different tyes of teaching methods especially the
Innovative method in the class, and most importantly providing avenues for the students to
participate.
