When checking is to be made of the circuit of high potential, be sure to discharge

beforehand the residual electric charges remained in the high voltage capacitor, by pressing
down the knob of the discharge lever located above the high voltage generator unit, till

the lever being locked by the stopper at the bottom.

Completion of discharge can be ascertained by observing the two neon lights over the high
voltage generator unit (lights on both sides of (+) and (-) of the high voltage capacitors)
having gone off. When the light remains winkcring, there is yet a residual charge and is

still a possibility of hazard. Make sure that the lights are completely gone off
(There are other neon lamps. The one over the regulator panel goes off at about SKY.

Be sure to check the lamps placed over the high voltage generator.)

The discharge lever maintains the high voltage capacitor circuit is being short- circuited,
disabled of charging. Therefore, be sure to pull out the pin holding the stopper after
assuring of all the discharge of the residual electric charges. so as to allow the discharge

lever to return to its upper position.

(5) When the charging is completed, which can be evidenced by stop of the kV
meter's movement, read the indication on both of the kV meter and of the

voltmeter.
( 6) Fig. 3.3.1 shows the relationship between the primary voltage of the high voltage

transformer and the tube voltage.

(7) Adjust the variable resistor! KVM\ of the P.C. Board "kV .mAs CONTROL-20" to
obtain that the reading of the kV meter as against the primary voltage agrees

with the relationship shown on Fig. 3.3.1. To turn the variable resistor

clockwise is to increase the reading of the kV meter.

(8) The primary voltage after completion of the above should be 60 ± 6V. Also,

the position of the IKVM Iwill approximately be as shown on Fig. 3.3.2.

(9) When adjustment is completed, make sure again that the power switch is OFF

position, then re-connect all the terminals to return as before.

3-7 Adjustment of mAs timer

The capacitance of the high voltage capacitor employed in this apparatus is 1 µF.
Because of this, the value of the tube voltage drop and the mAs value at the time of
radiographing is made to equal. If the mAs timer is found as bearing any error,
measure the tube voltage drop and adjust the mAs timer in the following manner.
(1) Set the mAs selector "mAs" to 20mAs.
(2) Set the tube voltage regulator "kV" to l00kV, and proceed with charging.
(3) After completion of the charging, perform the radiographing and read the
value of drop on the kV meter.
(4) Adjust the variable resistor! mAsl on the P.C. Board "kV.mAs CONTROL-20"

to have the voltage drop to be shown on the kV meter become 20k V (or,
80kV at the tube voltage when radiographing is completed).
(5) Then, check the values of the voltage drop (or, mAs in other words) on other
mAs ranges. Verify that all arc within the tolerance ± 10% if in the range of
20mAs or more, or ± 2kV when in the range less than 20mAs.

connected to +B2.
(4) Set the output voltage at 12V on the power source. ( A voltmeter should

be provided to this DC power source.)

(5) Turn the "LINE" switch to ON. The LED"D5" will be lit, indicating that

the charging is going on.

( 6) Increase the output voltage of the DC power source gradually.
Arriving at about 14.5 V, the LED "D5" will be gone off. Verify that the

charging is stopped.
(7) If the voltage at which the charge is stopped is not 14.SV, adjust the
variable resistor VRl on the P.C. Board "MOTOR CONTROL-30" for the

correct value.
(8) When adjustment is completed, remove the DC power source, and
re-connect the short ciurcuit wire between the connector I lM land +B

terminal.

Cautions for adjustment on tube current

1. When operating the tube current regulator on tlie occasion of readjusting the tube current,
pay fully attention to the possibility that the tube current will undergo a large change at a slight

change in setting of this regulator.

2. Readjustment of tube current is required when the X-ray tube unit is newly installed or

when it is replaced with the new one.

Resume the adjustment after resetting the tube current regulator of the mA regulator unit
to a lower value than the usual because there is the possibility that the tube current will flow
excessively on account of good emission characteristic as depending upon the specific X-ray

tube used.
