Contributions and Challenges faced by LINUX on Innovations in

4th Industrial Revolutions

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is a way of explaining the blurring of

boundaries between the physical, digital, and biological worlds. It’s a fusion of
advances in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), 3D
printing, genetic engineering, quantum computing, and other technologies. It’s the
collective force behind many products and services that are fast becoming indispensable
to modern life. Think GPS systems that suggest the fastest route to a destination, voice-
activated virtual assistants such as Apple’s Siri, personalized Netflix recommendations,
and Facebook’s ability to recognize your face and tag you in a friend’s photo.

By using LINUX, there are many innovations that can be made in this 4th
Industrial Revolution era. Until now, LINUX has played its role and give many
contributions to people around the world. There are some areas that can be innovated
using LINUX in the future such as cloud computing, on-demand services, DevOps,
hybrid computing and many more. In the direction of future world, there are few
challenges to achieve the aims.

First of all, LINUX has done many improvement and innovations in some
perspectives such as drones, Android, 3D printing or maker movement and many more.
In the future, there are many more potential aims that LINUX can do such as improving
Internet of Things (IoT), LINUX Containers, OpenStack, big data analytics and others.
For an example, big data which is the collective term for the mountains of information
produced by businesses, can hold the keys to more efficient operations and even
increased revenues by identifying new opportunities, but first this data must be sorted,
parsed and analyzed. The analytics tools, many of which themselves are open source,
that process these vast expanses of data require a powerful, scalable platform, a
platform that may not exist if not for LINUX.

In order to achieve these kinds of things, there are many challenges that people
nowadays especially expert in IT fields should face. The problems are slow growth on
the desktop, usage of mobility & beyond higher than desktop, rival of system and many
more. One of problem that LINUX should face is it’s notoriously weak on the desktop.
Some PC and netbook vendors ship systems with Linux preinstalled, but sales of these
are typically low. Many pundits have pointed to Linux's failure to displace Windows as
evidence that it will never succeed as a client-side OS.

In conclusion, LINUX can be giving many benefits to people around the world
especially in this era, 4th Industrial Revolution. There are many evidences shows that
LINUX has given many innovations and improvement in people’s life. In order to
achieve something that are great, LINUX also have to face many problems and
challenges. So, people nowadays should realize the importance of LINUX because it
can help us to improve our daily life in many perspectives such as business, security,
education and others.
