Certificate Programme on Working Capital Appraisal and Monitoring

The programme will help the participants

● Understand the basic concepts of Financial Statements like P&L, B/S, Cash and Funds Flow

● Understand the credit appraisal process for working capital finance

● Build knowledge of the cash credit system and supply chain financing

● Understand the CMA format as per RBI guidelines

● Understand the importance of Monitoring Borrower Accounts and adopt necessary follow up mechanism

There will be Pre and Post Tests in the course. In addition, at the end of each day of the program there will be a case study and
the participants will be independently evaluated on the basis of their performance in the case study responses.

Certificate of successful completion will be awarded to those participants who clear the pre and post-tests, acquit
themselves creditably in the case study presentations and display their sincerity and involvement in the overall
training program.

Pre requisites: Participants are expected to have a fundamental awareness/ knowledge on components of P&L Account
and Balance Sheet as otherwise comprehending CMA and appraisal methodologies will be difficult and time consuming for
them.

DAY 1

Pre Test on Working Capital Assessment

Session 1: Credit Appraisal – Non Financial Aspects


● Credit Appraisal – Fundamental aspects

● Industry specific issues

● Few Industry examples for discussions

● Impact on working capital assessment resulting from changes in economy

Session 2: Analysing Working Capital requirements


● Risk analysis in working capital – Inventory and receivables

● Company specific issues on working capital requirements

● Working capital management and financial performance

Session 3: CMA Format – Financial Statements and Assessment of Working Capital – CMA Forms I to III
● Discussion on CMA format as per RBI guidelines (Form I to VI)

● Financial Statements of corporate

● Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Current Assets and Liabilities

Session 4: CMA Format – Working Capital Assessment - Funded


● Form IV and Form V – Discussions
● Case Study on Financial Statements and CMA

DAY 2

Session 1: Understanding components of Working Capital


● Need for optimization of working Capital

● Gross vs. Net working capital and WC Gap

● Inventory vs. receivables

● Working capital cycle and funding of WC – Sources and Uses

Assessment methods – MPBF calculation, differences, applicability, etc.


● Factors impacting Gross working capital – Optimisation and rationalisation

● Detailed – First and Second method of lending

● Detailed – Turnover / Cash Budget methods

Session 2: Assessment of Working Capital – Non Funded Limits i.e. in the form of LCs and Guarantees
● Sight / Usance Elcees

● Inland vs. Import

● Standby Elcees

Session 3 & 4: Case Study on Working Capital Assessment both Funded and Non-Funded

Session 1: Exercise on Working Capital Assessment – Fund Based and Non-Fund based

● How cash flows can be managed to improve WC management

● Understanding key cash flow drivers

● Monitoring bottlenecks and other blockages in cash flows


● Structuring of WC limits to improve cash flows

Session 3: Monitoring of Working Capital Limits


● Need for monitoring working capital finance in banks

● Methods to monitor performance of borrowers including liquidity

● Monitoring tools

Session 4: Q&A- Answering specific queries of participants

Post Programme: MCQ Test

Note: Participants will be required to work on their laptop during Day 2 & 3.

Timings: 09:30 am to 05:30 pm

Fees: Rs.35,000/- plus applicable service tax (non-residential)

The fees include lunch and refreshments for the duration of the training.

Early Bird Discount of 10% if you register on or before August 24, 2017.

Cancellation Policy: CRISIL reserves the right to retain 25% of the fees, for any cancellations less than one week prior to the
training programme and 50% of the fees in case of non-attendance. CRISIL reserves the right to accept or reject nominations at
its sole discretion.

CRISIL reserves the right to reschedule/ cancel the programme at any point of time based on the circumstances.
