TI-B OMT 1 E Supratec Gesellschaft für Umwelt- und Verfahrenstechnik mbH produces modern
high efficient aeration systems, which are mainly used for oxygen transfer into
OXYFLEX®-MT biological waste water treatment. These products can also be used for any kind of
transfer of gases into liquids
General OXYFLEX® is the brand of membrane diffusers (plate, tubes and discs) with a
Information plastic body.
The extra ordinary characteristics of OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers are
given by its shape and the materials used.

Design OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers is available in two diameters:

• OXYFLEX®-MT 235 (free membrane area) 235 mm and
• OXYFLEX®-MT 300 (free membrane area) 300 mm.
The body is a round plate, made of glass reinforced made of Polypropylene. The
membrane is fixed to this body with a plastic ring made as well of glass reinforced
made of Polypropylene.

Membrane Standard-membrane is made of SUPRAFORM® (EPDM).

Membranes made of SUPRASIL® (Silicone) and SUPRADUR® (Polyurethane) are
partially available.
The membranes have a special slot-arrangement. Size and arrangement of those
slots is optimized to reach maximum oxygen transfer efficiency.

Characteristics OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers have low pressure loss.

OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers produce fine bubbles of a medium
diameter < 2 mm.
OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers are highly resistant against soiling.
As, in difference to tube diffusers, the whole active diffuser’s surface is at the same
hydraulic level, the membranes are gazing evenly among the full range from
minimal to maximal air flow. So, lifetime and efficiency is optimized.
OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers can be operated intermittently.
OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers can be used for all geometric forms of
tanks, but they are extraordinarily good for small tanks and grit chambers or first
high loaded stages.
OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers are well established and are working to
the clients satisfaction world-wide.
OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers are compatible to PERMOX® -T ceramic
disc diffusers.

Performance OXYFLEX®-MT membrane disc diffusers have a wide range, OXYFLEX®-MT 235:
0 - 5 Nm³/h and OXYFLEX®-MT 300: 0 - 8 Nm³/h.
Die design air flow shall be about OXYFLEX®-MT 235: 2 ± 1,5 Nm³/h and
OXYFLEX®-MT 300: 4 ± 2 Nm³/h.
OXYFLEX®-MT membrane disc diffusers can reach specific oxygen transfer
efficiency up to 25 gO2/Nm³xmsub, if coverage and water depth is favourable.

Combination For plants with partly intermittent operated tanks, OXYFLEX®-MT membrane disc
diffusers can be combined with PERMOX®- T ceramic disc diffusers. However,
different pressure losses have to be considered

Variations Modified OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers are also available for drinking
water purposes.
OXYFLEX®- MT membrane disc diffusers are also available as coarse bubble
diffusers

OXYFLEX® -MT 300 membrane disc diffuser are high efficient diffusers, as they are mainly used for oxygen
supply of biological waste water treatment plants.
Beside procedural necessities important criterions to select the matching fine-bubble aeration-technology
are features of a product.
OXYFLEX® -MT 300 membrane disc diffuser are designed at a specific air-flow of 4 Nm³/h per unit.
This is a good compromise between Invest -, overheads and range.
The following table is showing figures, which are represented from an oxygen-efficiency-test.
The values have been reached in a round-basin with water-depth of 3,85 m, submerge of diffusers of 3,60 m
and coverage of 9,7%.
Those values are not transferable on other installations, as the deviation even more than ± 25%.

Description OXYFLEX®-MT 300 – membrane disc diffuser Type ’G’ has a solid,
strengthen, horizontal body, made of glass-reinforced Polypropylene
and a slipped over membrane (e.g.: EPDM).

The uniform ring, made of glass-reinforced Polypropylene ensures the

proper location of the membrane.

The body has a connecting-threat (standard 1“-male).

Measurements Diameter: 330 mm, Height: 30 mm

– (The clamp is not considered in here)

Free membrane area: Diameter 300 mm (0,04 m²)

Storage The diffusers shall be stored in their packing inside a dry and aerated
building. DIN 7716 has to be considered.

Preparation Before installation of OXYFLEX®-MT 300 – membrane disc diffuser

Type ’G’ it has to be checked that the piping system is clean.

Drilling chips, dirt etc. have to be removed, because those will cause
serious damage to the diffusers’ membranes as those will be
transported into the diffusers as soon as blowers are set into operation.

Levelling OXYFLEX®-MT 300 – membrane disc diffuser Type ’G’ will be installed
onto round pipes. The piping system has to be levelled to maximum ±
10 mm.

Installation OXYFLEX®-MT 300 – membrane disc diffuser Type ’G’ are fixed to the
distributors’ female threat, or similar.

It is to be taken care of a horizontal seat of the diffusers.

Between diffuser and female threat must be placed a flat gasket made
of EPDM. The surfaces of all parts need to be clean and may not be
damaged.

Description OXYFLEX®-MT 300 – membrane disc diffuser Type ’AS’ has a solid,
strengthen, horizontal body, made of glass-reinforced Polypropylene
and a slipped over membrane (e.g.: EPDM).
The uniform ring, made of glass-reinforced Polypropylene ensures the
proper location of the membrane.
The body has a connecting-threat (standard 1“-male), that will be fixed
into a Polypropylene clamp.
This clamp can be fastened by screws or wedges.
The inserted gasket of the clamp seals the system.

Measurements Diameter: 330 mm, Height: 30 mm

Free membrane area: Diameter 300 mm (0,07 m²)

Storage The diffusers shall be stored in their packing inside a dry and aerated
building. DIN 7716 has to be considered.

Levelling OXYFLEX®-MT 300 – membrane disc diffuser Type ’AS’ will be

installed onto round pipes. The piping system has to be levelled to
maximum ± 10 mm.

Installation OXYFLEX®-MT 300 – membrane disc diffuser Type ’AS’ are fixed to
round pipes made of stainless steel or plastic, with a minimum diameter
of 50 mm. On the upper side of those pipes, centered holes of diameter
∅ 14 mm must be foreseen.
The clamp will be installed in a way, that the hole of ∅ 14 mm and the
opening of the clamp are centric.
After the clamp is locked (by screws or wedges) the OXYFLEX®-MT
300 – membrane disc diffuser Type ’AS’ can be screwed in.
It is to be taken care of a horizontal seat of the diffusers. The O-Ring
sealing, made of EPDM must be clean and undamaged and has to sit
between diffuser and tube.

take place before the above specified first run of diffusers.

To do the visual check, the diffusers shall operate at maximum capacity
and shall be turned down to the minimum.
• Test of evenly aeration (visual bubble check) must take place when
the water level is at least 60-100 cm above diffusers’ surface and a
specific air flow of at least 4 Nm3/h per unit.
• Test of evenly aeration (visual bubble check) at minimum air flow can
only take place if the water temperature is above 10°C.
Oxygen- Before the stated oxygen transfer efficiency figures of OXYFLEX®-MT
300 membrane disc diffusers are proved with an the oxygen transfer
transfer- efficiency test, the above mentioned steps have to be considered.

The oxygen transfer efficiency test must be done accordingly to
accepted rules (e.g.: ATV-M 209) in clean or waste water.
Guaranty figures have to be controlled exactly. It is necessary to have a
precisely air-flow measurement system.
Start up After successful oxygen transfer efficiency test the start up OXYFLEX®-
MT 300 membrane disc diffusers may follow immediately. If there is a
postponement of the start up, it has to be taken care, that the water level
stays at least 100 cm above diffusers’ surface to prevent OXYFLEX®-MT
300 membrane disc diffusers from sunlight and / or freezing.

Maintenance OXYFLEX®-MT 300 membrane disc diffusers do not need a lot of

maintenance. Usually it is enough to have one run of 10 to 15 minutes
operation at maximum air-flow per day, where each single OXYFLEX®-
MT 300 membrane disc diffuser shall operate at a specific air-flow of at
least 6 Nm3/h per unit.
To do so, it may help to shut down the system partially, by closing the
corresponding valves.
This also removes layers of sludge after longer time not having
operated the system or longer terms of low specific air flow.
At least once per year OXYFLEX®-MT 300 membrane disc diffusers
shall be checked visually. Here especially shall be checked whether
there are layers of sludge or similar. If so, those layers shall be removed
carefully.
A separate maintenance-contract can be completed
Supervision A Visual bubble check has to be done daily. The pressure loss of the
system has to be controlled and reported monthly.
Showy changes of the bubbles’ distribution and/or of the pressure-loss
are prompt to report at SUPRATEC. Especially at installations with
intermittent operation exists the risk, that activated sludge penetrates
the entire piping, by damaged OXYFLEX®-MT 300 membrane disc
diffusers. Hereby, all OXYFLEX®-MT 300 membrane disc diffusers are
affected in function and lifetime.
Warranty The maximum of SUPRATEC GmbH’s warranty for OXYFLEX®-MT 300
membrane is 24 months.
Longer warranty can be arranged only with conclusion of a
maintenance-contract between the operating and SUPRATEC GmbH.
Damages and/or outer influences are specifically excluded from the
warranty-promise
The warranty ends if it is known, that sewage is partially mainly of
industrial origin and/or the sewage has damaging influence on
membrane diffusers and the SUPRATEC GmbH was not informed
accordingly.
In such a case, a confirmation of the warranty is to be ordered through
the SUPRATEC GmbH
The general sales - and warranty-conditions of SUPRATEC GmbH are
valid.
