Provision of Information in Digital Format
AIS Application Specific Messages (AIS ASM)
AIS messages :
• Last winter season, a trial was conducted with the Ice Recommended Route.
• Prior to broadcasting a real route, a preliminary test was done near Quebec City to
evaluate the capability of ships’ equipment to display the information on their ECDIS
or ECS.
• The main objective is to avoid ship’s officers to manually enter the route waypoints in
their display system → risk of error.
