Gandhi now intervened in a dispute between mill owner of ahmadabad and worker over the issue of
discontinuation plague loonus .Gandhi asked worker to go on a nonviolent strike and the demand 35%
increase in wages the employers were willing to concede 20% bonus only he undertook a fast unto
death to strengthen the workers resolve. But the fast also had the effect of putting pressure on Mill
owner and Mill owner finally agreed to give 35% increase in wages.
Sarvodya
Is a Gandhian concept toward socialism. Sarvodia means universal upliftment. Gandhi took this ide from
john Ruskin sarvodaya was a gandhian concept for the upliftment of marginalization section of society.
It was a program for the welfare of the society. Basically sarvodaya means universal uplift and progress
for all.
Pillar of sarvadaaya
1- good for individual is good for society.
2- work dignity: the work of the lawyer and barber has some dignity.
3- life of labor and craftsmen is worth living
The sarvodya movement is based on truth nonviolence and self-denial.

Gandhi believed in simple life and hardworking. Gandhi said whether the person is rich or poor should
do physical activities. According to Gandhi everyone should perform physical labor to understand the
pain and hardship of those people who are performing manual work. It is necessary to develop respect
toward manual work. Gandhi said we should give equal respect to all work. A work of lawyer and barber
should give equal respect.
2- trusteeship:
trusteeship is economic philosophy that was propounded by mahatma Gandhi it provides a means by
which the wealthy people would be the trustees of the trusts that looked after the welfare of the people
in general. Gandhi requesting to the rich people that if you have the huge amount of income keep and
utilize the amount that is useful for your family rather we have to keep in bank we should give to poor
people and welfare of the state Gandhi believe in class solidarity harmony between the classes.
