Title
sugar crystals
Abstract
This is a paragraph outlining what you investigated and what you found. The reader should be able to read this
and know what the report is all about
Background Information
Crystals often form in nature when liquids cool and start to harden. Certain molecules in the liquid gather
together as they attempt to become stable. They do this in a uniform and repeating pattern that forms the
crystal. In nature, crystals can form when liquid rock, called magma, cools.
Aim
The Aim for this experiment is to try a different technique for the crystals to grow faster
and bigger from the last one that failed.
Hypothesis
my hypothesis is that my crystals will grow faster than the last set that I did that didn’t work out because
of the solution and since I change it change the solution it will work faster then the last mix and grow
bigger than the last.
Materials
 Water
 Sugar
 Containers
 Saucepan’s
 String Spoons
 A stove for fire (Be careful with the fire do with an adult)
 String/wool
Risk assessment
The risk in this experiment is that you can burn you self when you are dissolving the sugar in the water or
it can even tip on you or when you are putting it in the jar
Method
For the sugar solution
 Step1: In saucepan heat up two cups of water make sure it is not boiling.
 Step2: Then put 9 to 10 severing spoons of sugar.
 Step3: mix until dissolved.
 Step4: add food colouring.
 Step5: let it cold down in a container.
 Step6: Tie a piece of a wool onto a pencil and sit it on top of a container.
 Step7: make shore that the wool is submerged into the solutions.
 Step8: leave it for a couple of days.

Results

My results for this experiment where not too bad my crystals grow bigger than the last ones that I made
and they trend out perfect to me they where big and hared they fully hardened and the food colouring has
stand and the colour didn’t change it is a good effete that I put in it I think.

Discussion
Aim for at least 200 words in this section
Be critical of the results (get someone to peer review).

1. Has any error been identified?

In my experiment there was not much errors there was only on error that happened when I was mixing
the solution it tipped and then I had to start all over again.
2. Was there anything that did not go as per plan? How did you overcome this problem?

There was a couple of things that did not go to plan like the solution didn’t work for the first week and then I
decide to make another one and then in a cupel weeks it was growing really good and then there was another
problem when I making the solution I was rushing it and then I stuffed it up and had to make another one
from scrape.

3. Has any uncertainty in measurement been taken into account?

No there has not been any uncertainty measurement has been taken in my assessment task all the results are
myself.
4. Have the averages been calculated correctly?

Assessment Task Cover Sheet 19/11/2019 V2

Yes, the averages where checked and calculated correctly
5. Do the results show a lot of variability within each sample size and have the issues been
identified/outlined/discussed as to why?
Yes, I have picked up that if the solution is too hot the mix would not work as well and if the solution is too
could it would not work because it will not dissolve the sugar as fast as the warm water.
6. Have the controlled variables been controlled effectively?

Yes, the control variable was controlled because every day I will check it and tack a photo and make shore that
that there was nothing wrong.

Conclusion
Inconclusion the crystals that I made grow very big and the whole solution turns into a hard-soled sugar crystal
and it look’s amazing and feels cool to the
References
My references for my experiment is that I have change that help me finish this experiment is that I stated
earlier and made my solution stronger then the one that I9 have made a cupel of mouth back for my
science class and I improved it by trying different techniques that helped me make the crystals bigger then
before it looks good and feels good but I am very proud of what I have made because of the ones that I
made they failed and I wasn’t happy with it but this time there was no fails thank god I was happy with
what I did.
