II. DESCRIPTION
A. MORPHOLOGY

1. FLOWER:

- Are small, yellow and borne on spikes, solitary or fascicled on the trunk or larger branches.

2. LEAVES:

- Are alternate, 20 to 40 centimeters long, with 5 to 7 leaflets, oblong to oblong- elliptic, 7 to 18

centimeters in length, and pointed at both ends.

3. FRUITING:

- Is yellowish- white, occurring in bunches on a single stem, ellipsoid or globose, 2 to 4

centimeters long, with bitter seeds that are surrounded by a translucent pulp ( arillus )

- It’s high content of antioxidants, vitamins, and protein, alongside other minerals, gives it a host
of health benefits and medicinal uses.

- Because of its high phosphorus content, it may assist in strengthening and whitening your
teeth, also minimizing the chances of a toothache.

- Pounded seeds are added to water to be drank as a medication for ulcer and
deworming.
- The leaves and barks of the lanzones tree have been traditionally used to treat
malaria and dysentery.
- The powdered bark is used as a poultice to treat scorpion stings.
- Juice of the leaves is used as eye drops to relieve inflammation.

III. STORIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE PLANT

According to Mr. Edgar Nimez there are two types how to plant the lanzones it is by sexual and
asexual propagation. Asexual propagation means grafting while sexual propagation means by seeds. Ang
tinatawag na grafting ang pagkuha ng sanga sa puno nito at idugtong sa kabilang sanga ng puno. Kapag
ang kinunan mo ng sanga ang magandang quality ng lanzones at matamis yun din ang magiging bunga
ng puno. Mas madaling magbunga ang asexual propagation kesa sa butong itatanim lang. aabot ng 5
hanggang sampong taon bago mamunga ang butong itinanim kesa sa grafting na 5 na taon ay
magbubunga na ang puno. Maganda ang tubo ng puno at madaling magbung kapag ito ay na maintain
ng mabuti.

Meron tayong dalawang uri ng lanzones ito ay ang duku at longkong. Sinasabi nila na mas masarap
ang longkong sa duku dahil daw sa maliliit ang buto nito minsan nga yung iba ay wala na nga talagang
buto. Yung duku naman ay maasim at malalaki ang buto. Nag umpisa daw ang grafting ditto satin noong
1998. Pero yung mga native naman na lanzones ang napakatagal na dahil madali lang nmn daw itong
itanim. Abuno ang isang dahilan kaya maganda ang quality ng isang tanim. Marami na ngayong mga
commercial fertilizer ito yung nitrogen, phosphorus, at potassium. Ito yung mga importanteng kailangan
ng isang tanim para tumubo ng maganda. A ng nitrogen ay ibasi natin sa fertilizer ito yung urrhea, ibig
sabihin is nitrogen siya yung ammonium sulfate (2100) at (4600) ibig sabihin may nitrogen contain
nayan. At ang complete naman ay 14 14 14 ito na yung kumpleto na fertilizer.

Ang mga may ari ng mga taniman ay pinapabenta nila ang mga bunga sa market to earn money. Meron
din nagbebenta ng mga binhi na nakalagay na sa pot na ililipat nalang nila at itanim sa lupa para mas
mabilis ang pagtubo.

V. CONSERVATION

- every tree is well maintained by the owners.

B. CONSTRAINTS/THREATS/ISSUES:

Ang threats naman ay yung bark ng puno ng lanzones na minsan ay nabibitak at nagkakaroon ng mga
uod na tinatawag na sumisira sa puno. Ang ginagawa naman doon ay nililinis nila ang Bark na nasira
kinikiskis nila para d lumaki ang bitak sa puno at para mamunga pa ito. Sa bunga naman ay yung climate
change ng panahon kaya minsan ang mga bunga ay hindi maganda. Noong unang panahon nung maayos
pa ang rainfall dito sa lugar natin, ay madalas ang pagbunga ng mga prutas ditto satin. Ang matinding
sikat ng araw at biglang pag ulan naman ang nagpapabulak2 sa mga tanim o di kaya yung pagkasira ng
pagbunga ng isang tanim.
