and Outside
Anyway, continuing with this tutorial ...
► March (1)
► February (5) I recently got my hands on a complete Marauder's Map and scanned
all of it into my computer, then put it together in one large le for
► January (9)
printing and party purposes!
► 2011 (4) Yes, that means that you can now have the inside of the Marauder's
Map as well as the outside. ;)

There are six parts to this
post, although I've split

Chocolate The red lines represent fold lines. In case you

are confused on where to fold, you can check this.
Template
In Harry
Potter, there
are some lovely sweets
called Chocolate Frogs.
They come in boxes that I've also cleared out the background colour (the brown) and changed
each have a collectable
card in them. This t... it to white so that if you wish to give your printer and ink a break
you can print it with the white and stain the paper to achieve the
same e ect. The white version is found here. The tutorial to stain
your paper can be found by clicking this link.
Additionally, if you would like to see the other Marauder's Map
tutorial, just click on that link. Where that Marauder's Map comes in
handy for party activities, this one is more for decoration.

Directions on How to Make the Map

I've gotten a few comments asking for how to do it, so I made one
and took lots of pictures so you can see how it's done. ;)

The tea I have in bowls at the top and the map is at the bottom.
I used the PDF le version, which is white and requires staining.

Step 1: Cover the map with tea. It should be on an (old) cookie tray.
Detailed instructions can be found at the staining your paper tutorial.

Step 2: Sprinkle the Instant Co ee over your tea-covered map.

Let it sit for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3: Flip paper over and repeat steps 1 and 2

Step 4: Put paper INK-SIDE UP into an oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bake for 5-10 minutes or until completely dry.

Step 5: Remove your paper when it is completely dry.

Place under heavy objects (like books) to atten it out.
Leave for a few hours or overnight.

Step 6: Repeat steps 1-5 with remaining pages.

Step 7: Cut out the extra borders on each page,

but DO NOT cut the sides on the middle page.
Just trip the top and bottom.

Step 8: Fold along lines shown.

(If you're still confused, at the very top
there is a picture with red lines where you should fold)

Step 9: Glue along the blank edge on the left and right of
the middle page and attach the whole map together.

Step 10: Flatten beneath heavy objects and let dry.

When it's done, fold it up for your own Marauder's Map!

And, you know, for convenience's sake, here's all of the steps in one,
rather large picture. Hope that helps you make a stunning Marauder's Map prop!

It does have the middle box, actually, however, because
this is a scanned-in-version of the Marauder's Map I had
no way of scanning underneath the box without bending or
crumpling the rest of the map. So I left the box in the
middle just as at.

If you'd like, I could photoshop you a version in which the

box is separate to glue on and there is either a blank
background you can paste it on or I can put some sort of
writing there.

OMG! I can't tell how much I love You right now! I wanted to make a
Marauders map since ages! I started to create one a few years ago
and I collected pictures of MM from the internet but I haven't found
any white printable one as good quality as this one here. I've found
some pictures with the original background and I created te create a
version where I'd had have to draw the lines and everything from
the original lines. So I... suspended this project. XD I just wanted to
start all over again a few days ago and I've found this site! I love it!!

I just adore this. I ended up using it as birthday invitations, using a
razor blade, i scored the inside and then glued an insert so it folded
out. Turned out perfect! Lot of work but so worth it!

I printed the map on regular letter paper, it was 8.5x11"
There are three pages, however, which might be why it
looks large, I'm not sure. You can use whatever size you
like as long as you know how to put it together :)

Nope, the size of the map is entirely up to you. I did use
letter paper (8.5x11"), because that's what I had available,
but whatever size of paper you have, I say as long as you
can print it and put it together, it's all yours :)

You just helped make a 9-yr-old the happiest Harry Potter happy
birthday little girl on the planet:) Shrieks of joy, and the whole
process only took 1.5 hours by using the co ee grounds right away
with a little water in the pan, an oven at 200F for a half hour or so,
and then some scissors, a glue stick, and a standard clothes iron.
Plus, I'd forgotten to clean the pan super well, so the pages came out
smelling a bit like cookies:) Turned out really, really well. Thank you

resolution (it comes out a bit "fuzzy"). There are 4 pages

harry potter fan for at least 8 years... and i always wanted the
marauders map that harry uses in part 3 and 6... and i tried to built it

day... for my ight to the next concert.. and i saw a EBENWALD
shop.. and there was the Marauders Map... it's even bigger than i
thought tho... i checked all the detail i was looking for years ago..and
it was like a very very special moment for me.. then i had to leave
cuz some people saw me that knew me.. well i'm in the uk right
now.. the land of HARRY POTTER at all!! so as i saw this map here i
checked the details too and everything is alright! so i'm gonna built
it after 4 years :) :) :) well i'll try. BUT THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR
