In 1902 an inadequate lie detector test was invented by a man named James
McKenzie. Later on in the 20th century, 1921, a medical student named John Larson
from the University of California invented the modern polygraph instrument, which was
much more accurate in its results than the previous machine. Although it recorded
several different physiological responses, it was not as advanced as the modern
polygraph instrument; it measured the subjects pulse rate, blood pressure and
respiratory rate and recorded the information on a rotating drum of smoke paper. In
1925 Leonarde Keeler refined the instrument invented by John Larson; instead of using
smoke paper to record changes in the suspects’ reactions, he incorporated ink pens in
order to ensure the efficiency of the machine. In 1938, the machine was further
improved by Keeler. He added another measuring component, galvanic skin resistance.
The polygraph machine continued to advance throughout the years; a man named John
Reid introduced the idea of using ‘control questions’ as a means of comparison. After
many years of experimenting with ways to improve the machine, the machine was finally
computerized in 1992, this allowed the machine to record the results of the test more
efficiently.
For as long as human beings have deceived each other, people have tried to
develop techniques for detecting deception and determining truth. These techniques
have almost always included interviews and interrogations to try to see through
deception and reveal what a deceiver will not freely admit. In the 20th century, lie
detection took on scientific aspects with the development of techniques that use
measures of physiological responses as indicators of deception. The best known of
these is the polygraph. This technique, which relies on physiological measurements
developed early in the century, has become for many in the U.S. law enforcement and
intelligence communities including counterintelligence officials in several agencies with
whom we met the most valued method for identifying criminals, spies, and saboteurs
when direct evidence is lacking.
But the polygraph is quite expensive which needs a professional and qualified
examiner and at the same time a formal written request from the PNP, AFP, and other
agencies is also needed before conducting a polygraph examination. This lie detection
instrument which is known as the USB POLYGRAPH is a home lie detector test. This
type of polygraph that was created is an instrument that can be used by a normal
individual and doesn’t need to be a qualified examiner to conduct an examination.
To determine the truth the USB Polygraph is a real polygraph machine that can
be used as a lie detector to determine the truth (80%-99% accuracy). No training is
required and anyone can use this machine by just plugging it into the PC's USB port,
then strap the sensors to the test subject, and run the easy and fun software. Enter your
questions and get the answers. The computer will analyze the responses and will report
to you the truth. The software is the polygraph expert.
DEFINITION
USB CABLE - the most popular cable types available, used mostly to connect
computers to peripheral devices such as cameras, camcorders, printers, scanners, and
more.
While it may be the same sensor data captured but this will not make someone a
professional “lie detector” by any stretch of the imagination. Real lie detection takes
years of training and professional equipment.
The USB polygraph uses high quality, digital sensors to measure galvanic skin
response and pulse and it also comes with detailed instructions on how to use the
demonstration set in the home or classroom. Same data measured in real lie detector
sets and the data is captured digitally and can be analyzed with free downloadable
software on a PC or Mac.
The USB lie detector kit with digital pulse and skin monitors for conducting a
polygraph test at home. Using sensors applied to a subject’s fingers, the system takes
baseline readings of the pulse rate and the skin’s electrical resistance and measures any
changes in response to questioning. Data is graphed and stored in real time using free
software, so testers can assess whether the subject’s pulse accelerates or the
conductivity of their skin begins to change - the same physiological signs that
professional polygraph examiners use to determine whether a suspect is lying. Although
results are not legally binding, they may provoke a teenager’s confession about
sneaking in after curfew or simply elicit laughs at a party. The system connects to a
computer using the included USB cable. For Windows 8,7, Vista, XP, and Mac OSX.
Box: 8" L x 6" W x 4" D.
The USB polygraph can work quite well, as long the person being tested can be
seen along with the monitors, watching body language, and facial expression. It can
really generate the truth. The software was a quick download, as long as the address on
the box for online will be used. Instructions for use are in the program, a sort of guide.
It looks anything outside like that of a real life polygraph and this product has a
semi somewhat serious look with its finger attachments and abdomen strap. The box
does not come with any instruction or software. The downside of this instrument is that in
order to use it the person should have to visit the USB polygraph site to down load it. Its
windows based so using it on a mac is just awful. The software is slow and it takes
approximately 30 seconds in between questions to analyze the answer. Additionally, the
questions should be written before the test begins and the person cannot deviate from
those questions once the test starts. It cannot be considered as an instrument that can
be reliable enough to really know if a person is lying or not. The reliability in detecting a
truth or lie at about 60%.
On the other hand, it does work quite well, as long as the person being tested
can be seen and the result of the files cannot be printed or saved for future reference.
The USB polygraph is really not that accurate because there can be instances
wherein it will say “Unidentifiable”. This only means that if the answer needed will only
be a “lie or truth” and it will not be helpful if half the time the instrument will not be able to
identify the answer.
According to Boog USB Polygraph does work quite well, as long as you can see
the person you're testing along with the monitors, watching body language, and facial
expression. It has gotten the truth for him and he like it. The software was a quick
download, as long as you use the address on the box for online. Instructions for use are
in the program, a sort of guide. His only complaint is that you can't print or save case
files for future reference.
For Paypal Pen, USB Polygraph can detect a real truth and lie.
There are lots of good comments for this USB Polygraph but there are also
negative feedback that can show that it is not reliable.
CONCLUSION
The components of the USB polygraph are a real polygraph machine, pulse
finger clip, skin galvanization finger wraps, breathing apparatus, USB cable, and an
electronics box. This is considered the first home polygraph machine that is super easy
to use, no experience necessary. The computer does all the work and the only thing that
will be needed is to just enter the questions. Artificial intelligence simulates an expert
polygraph examiner to insure properly executed exams. The instrument will examine
"suspects" just like the FBI. The components that will be needed from the user input are
the pulse, breathing, sweat, and body language.
It can also be concluded that with this instrument the detection of lies will be
much easier because of the simple technical know-how of the instrument. This is also
accessible for everybody so it can be possible to easily detect a person if he or she is
lying.
With the advent of the USB polygraph which is designed to demonstrate the
principles behind what’s used in real lie detection. The USB polygraph kit can help weed
out the crooks from the saints using the same technology administered in professional
polygraphs. This home polygraph testing kit comes with everything that is needed to run
own lie detecting session.
This instrument presents a technique that is quite easy to use but this cannot be
considered reliable because there is still no proof or evidence that would support the
result. The USB polygraph is really not that reliable because of the fact that the software
that is inclusive of the package is slow and the questions should be written down in order
for you to be able to answer it.
The USB polygraph can be a powerful tool in order to detect if a person is lying.
This instrument can be recommended to be used by the law enforcers because it is
cheaper and it is also easy to use. The truth of the fact is that the USB Polygraph is a
real polygraph machine that can be used as a lie detector to determine the truth (80%-
99% accuracy). No training is required and anyone can use this machine by just
plugging it into the PC's USB port, then strap the sensors to the test subject, and run the
easy and fun software. Enter your questions and get the answers. The computer will
analyze the responses and will report to you the truth. The software is the polygraph
expert.
Another recommendation is that it would be better if the result can be printed for
future reference. This instrument can be recommended to be used in court provided that
the instrument will be further enhanced in order to assure that it can give a 98%
reliability of the results that will be generated after using it just like the real polygraph.
