bp O)s. I Dy Meera ont. (Hoorn ft ma wh perme eae fox) epee, «The hand made violins of Master Roman Bolanciuc, most sulted for the performing artist have impressed me most favorably, expecaly by the prefecton oftheir shape Their tone is delicate, clean, bright, satifying the highest demands.” David Oistrah Bucharest, 18 september 1967 HORA - TRapiti0n and ConTINUITY The town of Reghin, located in northem Romania, near the Carpathian Mountains, Is also known as the “town of violins", because it is representative for the musical instruments production in Romani In Reghin and in Romania, the largest and oldest musical instruments company is Hora S.A, having a tradition of more than 65 years, Established in 1951, the workshop produced just 37 finely crafted violins in its first year of operation. A year later, production had shot up to 400 and continued to rise as demand increased for new stringed instruments built from coveted local tonewoods. By the late ‘50s Hora had added not only quitars and mandolins but traditional Russian and Ukrainian instruments such as_balalaika and domra. Starting around 1960, the company began its shift from small instrument workshop to large-scale manufacturer. New ‘woodworking machines and precision tooling would automate much ofthe operation, allowing Hora to increase its production severalfold. Today, Hora SA. produces more than 70,000 instruments annually—only 12,000 of which fall into its original bowed instruments category. Its product line now ranges from violins, violas, cellos and double basses; to classic guitars and ukuleles; to traditional and ethnic instruments including Irish bouzouki, dulcimer, psaltery, cabza, and panflute, The company also builds educational instruments for children, including xylophones and small harps. The spruce and maple tone wood, from the Romanian Carpathian ‘Mountains, is stored in warehouses for natural aging during 5-10 years, thus receiving exceptional acoustical qualities and stability. In the man- ‘facture of musical instruments we also use exotic wood such as ebony, brasilwood, mahogany, red cedar and rosewood (registered according CITES regulations). The craftsmanship of the workers and technicians also contributes to the stunning quality of the products. To honor this tradition, the professional instruments for the great Philharmonics and solofsts are builtin a special luthier workshop. Hora exports 80% of its musical instruments all over the world 10 well-known specialized companies from Germany, France, United Kingdom, Israel, Spain, Italy, Scandinavian countries, as well a5 USA, Japan, Russia, Canad, Australia and others. The Intemational Fair for Musical Instruments in Frankfurt, in which Hora has been participating annually to display its instruments, has been an excellent opportunity to establish nev business and to continue established business partnerships and long-lasting friendships. Aso the growth of e-commerce and intemet marketing has also allowed Hora to make inroads in countries where it hasn't yet established distribution channels. ‘The musical instruments produced by HORA are quality-confirmed by the ISO 9001 certificate and comply with the demands of a very broad spectrum of customers. ‘Our musical instruments provide support for beginners are reliable for experienced players and give inspiration to virtuosos.
