Reflection No. 2

All throughout the film, we’ve seen him transitioned from being a fighter of Castile, a
sinner of his own self-doubt and vices, and saint of the heavens. He withdrew his dream of
becoming a knight of a lady, a knight of the woman he would solely devote himself and offer his
life to – no, instead, he chose a better option, more fitting of his ideals and beliefs. He chose to
become the knight of God.

In the movie, St. Ignatius de Loyola was portrayed as a handsome, heroic and headstrong
knight that becomes one of the famous saints. Ignatius was a true mystic. The part that strikes the
most is when he centered his spiritual life on the essential foundations of Christianity – the Trinity,
Christ, the Eucharist. On the process of conversion, Ignatius punished himself for he believes that
he had greatly sinned and needs to be punished. But God is always good to all His people, He had
forgiven Ignatius and what’s the best about it, that God also made Ignatius to be this knight of
heaven and to use Ignatius as an instrument to spread the word of the Lord. I was very moved in
the scene where Ignatius was in the water and God showed Himself to him as a little boy and God
spoke to him. God’s message was heartwarming for He is always by our side even in the darkest
time of our life and also when we are in the peak of happiness. I was touched when God spoke to
Ignatius’ ears as if He was really there in front of you.

The lessons I’ve gained after I watched the movie are believing that God will never let you
struggle alone with your problems that He is at your side always. Secondly, forgive those who
have sinned on you just like how God has forgiven us. And lastly, there is always a second chance
to change the bad version of yourself into a much better individual. St. Ignatius can teach me how
to have a strong belief and faith in God, that to never question God’s capacity in making your life
much better.
