My Education Philosophy Statement

In my classroom, the students are going to be learning daily and will notice a difference

from the start of the year to the end. In order for that to happen as educators, we must set a safe

environment in which the students will be able to learn effectively. The only way students will

be able to learn effectively, is if policies, procedures, and consequences are outlined at the

beginning of the school year and followed throughout that year. I believe that behaviorism plays

a key role in this aspect of teaching. The best way to monitor a student’s behavior is to set what

will be expected of them in the classroom.

I want to be the type of teacher that kids look up to and not the type the kids don’t like to

behave around. I want to teach because I feel as if I can make a difference in this world with my

patience and guidance to help little ones grow up. I’ve been around kids most of my life as my

mom is a director at a daycare. When I was growing up, I was fortunate enough to have a teacher

that helped me focus on what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. From the first day I had her

class, my eyes were opened and I knew that I would be ready for the world when I graduated.

This teacher had strong policies and procedures, but she also explained how those policies and

procedures would help us be better prepared to enter the real world and follow instructions. I

know that I was prepared to become a contributing member of society because of my teacher. To

this day, I still try to talk to this teacher regularly because I know I can still use their guidance
and wisdom. With any questions I may have or any insight I can receive to help me better

prepare for the future. I know that I can be the teacher that has the ability to help students

improve not only their knowledge of the material in my classroom but also realize who they can

become, as my teacher was able to instill in me. Going back and during early field experience, I

was able to be on the other end of things and see just how important the policies and procedures

were and having that classroom structure. I believe that it will make the class gel better, and in

result more learning will take place.

My mission as an educator is making sure that my students are learning classroom

subjects, as well as life lessons. Sometimes teachers get in the habit of just teaching the

curriculum at hand, I want to be able to teach curriculum but also teach life lessons, in the sense

of learning manners and having the proper attitude to have in class. Also by making sure I can

teach to the needs of my students and not be generic to their age and class. Maybe not take field

trips but do projects that require research to build models of what they are currently learning.

These students will be able to learn at their level while doing numerous different activities

around the subject to keep it upbeat and more than paper assignments.

These are just a few of the main responsibilities of an educator. I think we must strive to

improve the knowledge of our students for them to become well educated and successful

contributing members of society. The education field is not a profession that just anyone should

choose. Education is the profession that individuals with the drive and heart to teach should

pursue. After taking many education classes, I am confident that I am one of those individuals.
