Subject : A request for granting permission for Nursing Officers to work as a Principal Investigator.

Respected Sir,

With all due respect myself Vijay Kumar, Senior Nursing Officer, AIIMS Jodhpur, would like to draw your kind attention
to a very important matter which would have a great potential in future in addressing many of the health related issues.
As a member of health team, I have been related with many individual research works and so I could find that the
number of working nursing officers in India who involved in research works is too negligible. Also the more lamentable
fact is that the reason behind why they sit back in such cases is lack of much opportunities and support. I am really sad
to inform you that inspite of the fact that as nurses we have the maximum contact with patients and such that we are
fully able to deliver better care than any others by practicing EBP and displaying updated knowledge through
participating in various kinds of CNE & CME. Moreover, in our nursing curriculum we study nursing research as a specific
subject that had produced our own research projects and we could publish our works with the help of people like you as
well. Besides I can convincingly say that while we do research we must include not only the patients but their family,
relatives and community also to bring back a client to his healthy life. This is possible exclusive because we have a good
rapport with all of them than anyone. As we all put the patient first in our duty, it would be very effective if we nurses
get permission to do research freely without any shackles. Some of the reputed institutions like AIIMS Delhi and Indian
railway have already granted permission for their nursing officers to do their own research and I am enclosing this
request with some such informations. I am so confident to say that this move can definitely bring changes which
remove all old practices and replace with effective current methods based on clear evidences. I humbly request you to
take this matter seriously and do the needful at the earliest. I shall be grateful for you and looking forward for your
reply.
