Main Objective of the assessment

1. The main objective of this assignment is to examine the ability of the students to critically evaluate the performance and position of a company and
their ability to value the company using a valuation method. This objective will be achieved through the preparation of financial and valuation report of a
large listed company in the Pakistan stock exchange. In the preparation of the report student must demonstrate a critical understanding of the theories
and concepts pertaining to the creation of shareholder value and the evaluation of the performance of a company. In this assignment students should use
appropriate concepts and rational arguments to interpret strategic and financial data in order to produce suitably critical, well-considered report.

Description of the Assessment

1. This assignment is based on a company listed on the Pakistan stock exchange (PSX) which you have been already given in your previous assignment. You are
required to prepare a report comparing the financial performance and position of a company over the last five years (trend analysis) and also
required to use the Cash flow statement for the purpose of analysis.

 (a) In the first part, you are expected to use ratio analysis to compare the performance and position of a company over the last five years. You are
expected to use some industry data and information from various sources to support your analysis. Your report should cover the following areas:

Assignment 1: An evaluation of profitability.

Assignment 2: An evaluation of financial position from both a short-term (liquidity) and a long-term (gearing) perspective.
Assignment 3: An evaluation of performance from an equity shareholders perspective. An evaluation of the overall performance and position of the
business.

In the second part, use your company’s CASH FLOWS STATEMENT and complete assignment 4:
(i) From your firm’s financial statement, list each item of reported in the CASH FLOWS STATEMENT and write your understanding of each item. Discuss
any changes in each item of CASH FLOWS STATEMENT for your firm over the past 5 years articulating the reasons for the change.

(ii) Provide a comparative analysis of your company’s three broad categories of cash flows (operating activities, investing activities, financing activities)
and make a comparative evaluation for 5 years.

Note: Specimen regarding the First part is being uploaded with the assignment but not specimen will be
available for the second part.
