1. Tell me about yourself.

-I am Verenice Dianne A. Fuentes; I graduated BS- Chemistry at Central


Mindanao University and a Registered Chemist. I’ve been practicing my profession for 4
years as a Assistant- chief Chemist where I develop my expertise in industrial chemistry
and my leadership where I lead my team in managing workloads to meet the deadline and
I conducted seminars and activities in inspiring my fellow chemists to diligently looking
to the future. And through the years of working in the lab, I deeply developed my honesty
for we are accountable in producing a safe product.

2. What are your greatest strengths?


-My greatest strength as an individual is that I am faithful to my work; I can work
calmly under pressure, and my humility, where humility teaches me to treat
failure and obstacles as a contribution to my success.

3. What are your greatest weaknesses?


-My greatest weakness is that I overthink and detail-oriented in everything I do. I
always gather a lot of facts and information that sometimes it leads me to see the truth in
plain view.

4. Tell me about something you did- or failed to do- that you now feel a little ashamed
of?
-The thing that I failed to do is to become me− to show myself as being who I am
and always wears a façade in me.

5. Why are leaving (or did you leave) your previous position?
-I have read your announcement about this position and I think that this position,
which is the Chief Chemist, would help me to challenge myself in handling bigger
responsibilities and acquire the skills and knowledge for the future needs.

7. Why should I hire you?

-Besides of meeting your qualifications, you should hire me because you need me
and I need you. You need me to fill in the vacant position I am applying for and I need
you or your company to help me unleash my skills and go beyond my limits for your
company, the Holcim, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of cement and which I
think, needs a competent worker who is expert, proficient, and well-experienced in this
kind of job.
8. Aren’t you overqualified for this position?

-I consider myself as an average-learner for this job. My length of experience


doesn’t tell me to be overqualified for a higher position than a position of a Chief
Chemist.

9. Where do you see yourself five years from now?


-I see myself as an employer in this company and still learning and improving my
skills in this filed.
10. Describe your ideal company, location, and job.
-My ideal company- the company that I can see its future 30 years from now. In
terms of location, any place is fine. And for the job, any job would do as long as it
is in line with my profession.
11. Why do you want to work at our company?
-The Holcim, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of cement and a world leader
in the building material industry. I found this company competent in molding their
workers to their best potential and it would be my pleasure to work for this world-class
company.

12. What are your career options right now?


-My career option is to take up Masters Degree while working in a company.
13. Tell me honestly about the strong points and weak points of your boss?

- My boss has a great leadership in handling his work, and very professional in
handling his team. However, he lacks humility which, I think, was the reason of becoming
irrational sometimes.

14. What good books have read lately?


-The favourite book that I’ve been reading titled “What Makes You A Winner” by Robert
J. Tamasy. This book talks about principles from the bible for business and life.

18. How do you feel about reporting to a younger person (woman, minority, etc.)?

20. Would you lie for the company?
-No, because I have my principles. I live with it. Which is… lying/ sabotaging your work
would make your work done in an instant, but it would take ample time correcting the
wrong.
21. Looking back, what would you do differently in your life?
- I dreamed to be a soldier. If God had given me the opportunity before to become one,
then I would. But since I am here with you right now, it means being a soldier is not
for me, and being a chemist is what my fate tells me.

-

- Yes, I can. It is already in my mindset and I prepare myself for that.
24. What makes you angry?
- Ignorance
25. Who has inspired you in your life and why?
- First, it is God who inspires me to pursue my dream and stay faithful throughout the
process. Second, it is my family who helps me in believing in myself that I can make
my dream possible. Lastly, my countrymen who gives me motivation to pursue this
career and extend my blessings to them.
26. What was the toughest decision you ever made?
- To give up my dream to become a soldier and be a chemist instead.
27. What changes would you make if you came on board?
- Teach them humility and faithfulness. Being faithful to your job and your work would
lead to trust which is the main foundation in every business partners and co-workers,
while humility teaches us to treat failures and as a contribution to success; thus, it
would give us hope in every affliction that someday, one day, this failure would have
a great learning, meaning, and blessings in my life.
28. How do you feel about working nights and weekends?
- I would love it because I’m nocturnal.

31. What are your goals?
-My goal is to achieve a happy life, benefit my profession, and inspire and help people.
32. Have you considered starting your own business?
-Yes, I considered it absolutely.
33. What’s the most challenging part of the job?
- Being accurate in every measurement because in chemistry, every drop, however small,
counts. And that small drop would lead to a big error. Also, the new discovery that can
lead to innovation of new products.

35. How do you define success and how do you measure up to your definition?
-I define success as an achievement of your goals. And successes don’t only come from
educational attainment, economic status, or career but also the fulfilment of your soul−
peace of mind. You are contented of what you have, happy as who you are, and a
freedom to develop yourself as a better you.
36. What do you think about abortion, death penalty…? I despise abortion; I agree in
death penalty. Abortion is a crime that needs serious punishment for it took away life and
the right of an unborn child. Death penalty for heinous crimes is a must; it’ll bring
consciousness to the people that the justice system of the Philippines is powerful.
37. Why should I hire you from the outside when I could promote someone from
within?
-“No man is an island” we gain learning by associating to others. So what I have learned
outside maybe a fresh learning in here and would bring changes in this company.
