EMENTOOL Instruction Manual
EMENTOOL comprises a programming device, TR-EM-268, with software for EMENTOOL Lite. When
the product is installed on a PC, you can download a program (firmware) and parameters to the
Electromen motor controller, type:
• TR-EM-239
• TR-EM-273
• TR-EM-288
• TR-EM-288-S
EMENTOOL Lite is a simple software used to set parameter values in the motor controller, and read
and monitor current operating values.

You will need...
To set parameters in the motor controller, you need access to a PC with the EMENTOOL software
installed, the EM-268 programming device (programming device incl. necessary cables). The
programming device including software is available from LINAK Danmark A/S.

System requirements:
To ensure that EMENTOOL can run on the PC in question, the PC must have a USB port and the
following software installed:
• Windows XP/ Windows7

• and the latest version of Java
You can download the latest version of Java from the following address: http://www.java.com/en/
The figure below illustrates how via Unit handling under System properties in Windows it can be
determined whether the PC from which the EMENTOOL is to run is installed with USB ports and a
compatible version of Windows.

Installation of software
Insert the installation CD supplied into the drive and follow the instructions on the screen.

Ementool Lite
Ementool Lite is used to set parameters, download firmware and monitor the system during operation.
Start EMENTOOL Lite by clicking the icon
Connect a motor controller to the programming device. Click the Read button to read the motor
controller configuration and data.

Tabs
The functions in EMENTOOL Lite are subdivided under tabs. Here you will find the following
functions:
• Parameters
• Monitor
• Control (not used in this version)
• Program
• Remote access (not used in this version)

Parameters
The motor controller's parameters can be entered or changed from this tab.
Text field - enter a description

of the configuration.
Text field - enter numeric value

for the relevant parameter
Select the parameter you wish

to change
Click Write to transfer the changed values to the motor controller. The system is now ready for use.
You can find the recommended parameter values for the relevant LINAK TECH system on pages 13-
14.
Parameter-files (.PAR)
Parameters can easily be loaded into one or more motor controllers if a Parameter file (.par) has been
created in an earlier stage by using "Save as" under the "Menu" tab. Parameter values created for all
common LINAK Actuators can be found on the CD under the folder "Actuator Parameters"

Monitor
In the monitor tab there is a graphic presentation of the current LINAK system in operation. Very
useful when troubleshooting the system.

Program
This function allows you to update the motor controller's firmware. In Menu select where you want to
update from.
Click Open Prog. file to retrieve the firmware file from the PC.
Click Open to retrieve the file.

Then click the PROGRAM tab to download the new firmware to the motor controller. If you have
several motor controllers, when you have completed programming the first, simply connect the
programming plug to the next motor controller and click PROGRAM again.
Status field shows the number

of devices programmed.
