    Guidelines for the Preparation of Synopsis


    The researcher shall be permitted to submit the synopsis only after completion of the minimum
    duration of the programme. The synopsis shall be accepted only when the scholar has published at
    least one paper after joining the programme in a refereed journal.However, the scholar shall be
    permitted to submit the synopsis three months prior to the completion of his/her minimum duration,
    provided he/she has published two papers in referred journals after joining the programme and is
    specifically recommended by the Doctoral Committee.

    The scholar shall submit a copy of the synopsis of his/her research work prepared in
    accordance with the format and specification prescribed, to the Doctoral Committee through the
    Supervisor. If the Doctoral Committee approves the research work reported in the synopsis, the
    candidate shall submit six copies of the approved synopsis to the COE

    1. Synopsis should outline the research problem, the methodology used for tackling it, the
    organization of the thesis, and the summary of the findings.

    2. The size of synopsis should not exceed 10 pages of typed matter reckoned from the first
    page to the last page including the List of Publications.

    3. The sequence in which the Synopsis should be arranged is as follows:


    i. Cover Page/Title page (as shown in the Appendix C)
    ii. Text divided into suitable Headings (numbered consecutively)
    iii. References (not more than 12)
    iv. List of Publications (those published/accepted for publication in Journals.

    3. Standard A4 size paper not lower than 80 gsm may be used for preparing the copies.

    5. The Synopsis should have the following page margins:


    Top edge : 2.5 to 3.0 cm
    Bottom edge : 2.5 to 3.0 cm
    Left side : 3.5 to 4.0 cm
    Right side : 2.0 to 2.5 cm

    6. The text should be typed in Times New Roman/Arial font size 12 or any other legible font.

    7. One or two Tables/Figures may be included at appropriate places in the text.

    8. All page numbers (Arabic numbers) should be typed without punctuation on the top right
    hand corner ½ inch from the top with the last digit in line with the right hand margin.

    9. Synopsis should be bound using flexible cover of thick white art paper. The cover should be
    printed in black letters.
