Deforestation

With all the air pollution now we need our trees, deforestation is wrong we need to keep

our trees. They provide us with fresh air, we need them. Trees are our lifeline we can't keep

destroying them. Without them we have nothing we need trees, trees are our lives. Deforestation

is something that we need to stop. It is ruining our world.

So what is deforestation? Well it is the act of clearing or cutting down a forest for human

use. Now think, can’t we use that land for something else. Yes, yes we could although trees clean

the earth, they are our lifeline they keep us alive. With all the pollution that we are creating these

days we need the trees! Susan Aldridge of , “ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE: IN CONTEXT.”

says “Loss of forests has a number of environmental impacts. It can contribute to climate

change, by reducing rainfall and altering the amount of sunlight reflected from Earth’s surface.

Deforestation also increases the risk of forest fires by drying out the soil.” Forest Fires it's hard

to believe that by cutting down the trees, which you would believe would stop it can actually

cause it.

The best part of all of this is is that they are replenishable. You can literally plant them

anywheres and they will grow. They may be replenishable, but if we cut them down too fast they

may not get the chance to re grow fast enough. The earth can pollute faster and not have a chance

to cleanse it self. For example the movie The Lorax This young kid comes in and cuts down a

tree makes something out of it and sells it. It blows up and he goes crazy. He cuts down all the

trees and turns this place into something horrible. The moral of the story was that the whole time

there was the little guy who was the Lorax who warned him. He never listened and ruined such a

beautiful place. This may not be real life, but this is happening all over the place. In one of my

articles “Deforestation” It states that, “Deforestation was used by some of the earliest humans as

a means of survival. They cut down trees and cleared forests for farmland. They also cleared land

to build houses for shelter and roads for travel and exploration. Throughout centuries,

deforestation continued for many of these purposes. Forests were also cleared to make room for

new highways, strip malls, and housing developments. Deforestation was also used for industrial

practices, such as logging, which provides wood and paper products. Forests that were rich in

minerals were cleared and mined for their resources.”, “Opposing Viewpoints Online Collection.

2015. COPYRIGHT 2018 Gale, a Cengage Company.” With everything everyone has these

days do we really need that new highway to get somewhere five minutes faster? Do we really

need another mall a block away from that other one? The answer is no we need to save the trees!

“The pace of logging is dictated by the consumer demand for lumber and wood products.

In the United States, for instance, the average size of new homes doubled between 1970 and

2000, and the forests ultimately bear the burden of the increasing consumption of lumber.” ,

“Logging Environmental Encyclopedia. 2011. COPYRIGHT Gale, Cengage Learning.” There is

always going to be a need for wood, but really people just went crazy. Everyone just wants to

make money, money, money, in the end that's what it ultimately boils down too. Think about

this, the big logging companies and huge factories. The CEO’s, Owners, and the Boards could

care less about the world. As long as they get the paycheck at the end of the week that’s all that

matters to them nothing else.

As seen we need the trees trees give us everything. As I was just stating these big

companies could care less hears an example. “Illegal logging has become a problem with the

growing worldwide demand for lumber. For example, the World Bank predicted in 2005 that if

Indonesia does not halt unsustainable logging practices, it would lose its forest cover by 2035.

Estimates indicate that up to 70 percent of the wood harvested in Indonesia comes from illegal

logging practices.” , “Logging Environmental Encyclopedia. 2011. COPYRIGHT Gale,

Cengage Learning.” We need to stop we need the trees they give us life, the keep the world a

better place let's end this SAVE THE TREES!
