ORIENTATION OF NUST 2018

Orientation of NUST 2018 is a comprehensive 5-Day program, starting from 28th August 2018 to 1st September
2018, filled with all the events and information that a freshman needs to know before the start of his/her
professional academic career. Besides these vital essentials, they would also be able to participate in various
sports and fun-filled activities, thus giving the freshmen ample opportunity to network with their peers and also
showcase their talents and skills.

This event is completely managed by students. An Orientation Guide, who will be a sophomore/junior
of NUST, is also assigned to every freshman. All freshmen are divided into houses and Groups. The main
highlights of the program are as follows:

ANNEX A
Role of Orientation Guide
Orientation Guide is responsible for:
1. Providing timely information regarding the event, its schedule and other important aspects.
2. Re-directing the freshmen to the relevant/concerned departments of NUST, for queries and
issues they might have.
3. Guiding them during the whole 5 days of the Orientation Week i.e. During Inter-school
visits, sessions and seminars and other activities.
4. Getting necessary information from the freshmen to make their Orientation Week
convenient and ensuring their participation in all the competitive and academic activities
like Sports Fest & Alumni Talks etc.
5. Mentoring the freshmen during the rest of their academic career in NUST.

Communication Procedure with Freshmen:

Orientation Guides will be communicating with the freshmen in following way:
1. The first contact will be through a linkage email sent to freshmen including necessary
information about the event.
2. Freshmen will be again emailed and asked about the accommodation/transportation status
from the Leaders of Orientation Guides.
3. OGs will then take each and every freshman on call and ask in detail, all the necessary
information, they need from the freshman.
4. For any updates of the event – Informing freshmen about the various events, reminders,
competitions and any other alerts during the event, the Orientation Guides will be
communicating through SMS.

Administrative Queries
It should be noted that following queries/issues will not be directly entertained by Orientation
Guides, though we will provide complete assistance for the resolution:
1. Unavailability of Hostel Accommodation in NUST:
Orientation Team cannot ensure hostel accommodation for freshmen, if they have not
received confirmation from Hostel Department, NUST. Orientation Guides can though
guide the freshmen about the private hostels in vicinity of NUST premises.
