Specific Learning Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the learner can...
 Realize that ICT has negative impacts as well;
 Cite instances where technology is used inappropriately;
 Create a personal timetable on the use of ICT tools;
 Give proper uses of ICT tools;
 Create a resolution on how to responsibly use ICT tools; and
 Identify whether the use of ICT in a given situation is effective or enslaving.

Time Allotment: 60 minutes

I. INTRODUCTION/MOTIVATION (10 mins)

1. It has been established the previous day that ICT has made our life easier and more
convenient. To review, ask the students once again how ICT makes life easier and more
convenient.
2. Video Clip Analysis
After the students have watched the video, elicit their opinions/reactions and ask them
the following questions:
a. Who among you can relate to what was shown in the video?
b. Do you consider this as a positive or negative impact of ICT? Why?
With the conveniences afforded, we might become too dependent on ICT.
So the goal for today is to highlight the effective use of technology; how to be
empowered by it, not to be enslaved by it.

II. INSTRUCTION/DELIVERY (15mins)

1. Video Clip Analysis
a. What are the mistakes portrayed in the clip?
b. Will you give other instances where you have used technology in a rather
inappropriate way?
c. According to the video, what are the steps on how we can disconnect from
technology?

III. PRACTICE (20 mins)

1. In learning that there are advantages and disadvantages in using ICT tools, let us plan
on accomplishing the steps in disconnecting from technology.
My Everyday in a Glance: Timetable Worksheet
For this activity, the students will be given timetable worksheets to budget their time for
a typical day.
At the end of the activity, the teacher will ask for 5 volunteers to present their timetable.
After presenting their timetables, the teacher will ask the following process questions:
a. How does it feel to budget your time for each everyday activity?
b. Which do you prefer: a day with budgeted time for activities; or a day without any
plan/schedule? Why?
2. 2-Column Notes:
The 2-Column Notes will be posted on the board. In the 1st column is the list of ICT tools
and in the 2nd column, the students will post what they think are the proper uses of the
ICT tools.

IV. ENRICHMENT (10 mins)

1. “My ICT Resolution”
Students would be given 5 minutes to write their individual resolutions, with this guide
sentence: re
“How I plan to responsibly use ICT tools.”
The resolution will be signed by the writer.
For their homework, the students will post their output, “My ICT Resolution”, on
Facebook.
2. To recap the lesson and elicit students’ reflection, ask:
How should one utilize ICT?
Utilize technology effectively rather than be enslaved by it.

V. EVALUATION (5 mins)
Quiz
Effective or Enslaving?
1. Using your smartphone as the only means to socialize with your friends.
2. Using Facebook as a tool to disseminate information to a wider audience.
3. Movies and TV series marathon, for 20 hours, in your brand new LED TV.
4. Using your computer to make PowerPoint presentations as a supplement, not as a sole
material, for your report.
5. Flooding your Instagram account with lots of glamorous photos to boost your self
esteem.
