Chapter III

Methodology

This chapter clearly defines the research methods used to conduct the study.

The researchers explains how the necessary data and information to address the

research objectives and questions was collected, presented and analyzed. Reasons

and justifications for the research design, research instruments, data sources, data

collection techniques, data presentation techniques and analytical techniques used are

given.

Research Design

This study "Bermuda grass(Cynodon dactylon)as antimicrobial mouthwash" is an

applied research that aims to solve problems related to mouth diseases such as

plaques,tooth ache,tooth decay,etc. through the use of herbal mouth rinse .As Calmorin

(2010) stated, applied research is a type of research that involves seeking new

applications of the scientific knowledge to the solution of a problem such as the

development of anew system or procedure, new device, or new method in order to

solve the problem in this type of research, the problem is identified a new system or

new method.

On the other hand, experimental type of research is conducted in the study.

The experimental method was employed in this study for it aims to know the potential

use of Bermuda grass(Cynodon dactylon)as component of antimicrobial mouthwash.

Sample size

Out of ____ students and out of ____ teachers of New Society National High School

only _____ will become the respondents of this study.

Sampling Design

The research sampling method that will be used in this study is randomly

choosen of respondents but with the consideration of their physical capability to rate

the product based on the senal properties. In this study the data gathered from the

respondents were interpreted accordingly.

Population

The respondents of this study will be 4 junior high students,7 senior high

students, and 5 teachers of New Society National Highschool. The respondents were

chosen randomly.

Locale of the study

The sresearchers will conduct the experiment at the new Science Laboratory of

New Society National High School research design, sample size, sample design, The

subject, research instrument, data gathering procedure, statistical tool.

Data Gathering procedure

The data will be gathered after the researchers conducted the study at New

Society National High School. The researchers will gather the data by analyzing and

interpreting the results of the survey after conducting the study. In order to support the

validity of data, interview will be conducted to gather informations.

Statistical tools

After retrieval of the instrument used, the data tabulated and tallied. In the

analysis and interpretaion of data statistical tool was used from the purpose of

comparison. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was utilized.
