information, and records collected, used, or kept by the school district about a student

(Understanding Confidentiality Requirements).

Formal assessment- ongoing assessments to determine a students' ability levels in various

academic areas and used to guide a teacher’s instruction (Informal vs Formal Assessments).

TERMINOLGY 3 3

Accommodations- alteration of environment, curriculum format, or equipment that allows

an individual with a disability to gain access to content and/or complete assigned tasks. They

between accommodation and modification for a student with a disability).

Differential effectiveness or differential boost- to discuss accommodations that enable

students with disabilities to perform better but did not benefit those without disabilities

(Sitilington 78).

questions, or a selection of questions from common bank of questions, in the same way, and that

(2) is scored in a “standard” or consistent manner, which makes it possible to compare the

and assessments may be “standardized” in this way, the term is primarily associated with large-

scale tests administered to large populations of students (Great Schools Partnership).
