Dermatitis is defined as skin inflammation that characterized by red, dry, and
itchy skin. More serious dermatitis may result in crusty scales, painful crack, or blisters
that ooze fluid. There are varieties risk factor of dermatitis such as genetic, foreign
substance, contact from other substance, and allergic. Dermatitis can be divided to 3 type:
1) atopic dermatitis; 2) contact dermatitis; 3) seborrheic dermatitis.

Etiology of dermatitis can be divided to 3 type as explained previously. Atopic

dermatitis or commonly known as eczema is inflammatory skin disease that affects to
young children and usually is caused by sensitive response of Ig E to dust, allergic food
and the others. Symptoms are itchy red, dry, and itchy skin. (1) Treatment way of
dermatitis have primary and secondary. Primary treatment of dermatitis is as prevention
way, and secondary is true treatment for dermatitis. Prevention is best attained by trying
to reduce the dryness of the skin, and management of an eczema exacerbation requires
medical treatment often in the form of corticosteroid creams. In addition to topical
treatment, severe acute or chronic eczema often requires systemic immunosuppressant
drugs or phototherapy (ultraviolet, UV light).
Contact dermatitis is caused by contact with 1 of the hundreds of chemicals to
which individuals are exposed on a daily basis. Allergen chemical have varieties form
such as poison ivy, cleaning products, jewelry containing nickel, perfumes, cosmetics,
and even preservatives in many creams and body lotions. Contact dermatitis can also to
be irritant contact dermatitis which caused by damaged of outer layers of skin. Almost
any chemical, including water, can damage the skin with enough contact. Toxic
substances like fiberglass and turpentine quickly damage the skin. Many people develop
irritant contact dermatitis when they work with hair dyes, solvents, oils, paints, varnishes,
foods, or metalworking fluids.(2) Seborrheic dermatitis has not been known exactly
caused. Sometimes it combines from some disease such as stress, a yeast that normally
lives on skin, cold and dry weather. Dandruff and cradle cap are common names for
seborrheic dermatitis. Babies 3 months and younger often get cradle cap: crusty yellow or
brown scales on their scalp.

Dermatitis can be a form normal physiology of body and also in pathology form.
Each of type dermatitis has own their caused and treatment to solve that the disease.
There are 3 type of dermatitis: 1) atopic dermatitis, is caused by hypersensitivity of
inflammatory due to allergic substance; 2) contact dermatitis, is caused by allergen
chemical such as poison ivy, parfume, cosmetic and the other; 3) seborrheic dermatitis.
Clinical manifestation of dermatitis can be summarized in some characterized such as
red, rash and itchy skin, dry skin, burning, stinging, oozing blisters that leave crusts and
scales. (3)

Dermatitis is skin inflammation that caused by increase sensitive response of Ig E

to foreign substances. Preventing way to dermatitis disease just avoid the risk factor that
can occur that disease and try to keep body from stress and disease that relate with
dermatitis.
