● The Near-Vision Acuity examination shall be administered annually.


The examination shall ensure natural or corrected near-distance
acuity in at least one eye such that the applicant is capable of
reading a minimum of Jaeger Number 1 or equivalent type and
size letter at the distance designated on the chart but not less than
12 in. (30.5 cm) on a standard Jaeger test chart or an equivalent
Ortho-Rater or similar test pattern.

● The Color Contrast Differentiation shall be administered annually.


● The SNT-TC-1A para 8.2.3 “Vision examinations expire on the last
day of the month of expiration” is not allowed. To be conducted
annually.
● The valid ACCP Level II or ASNT NDT Level II certificate shall not be
used to waive the specific examination for the method.
● The Practical examination (other than TOFD/PAUT/DR/CR) shall
require one specimen for each technique and at least two for each
method.

● Level I Practical Examination


– The candidate shall detect at least 80% of discontinuities and conditions
specified by the NDE Level III.

● Level II Practical Examination


– A valid ACCP Level II certificate shall not be used to waive Level-II Practical
examination for the method.

● For Level-III, deletion of specific examination is not allowed, even if


he has ASNT NDT Level III/ACCP Professional Level III certificate in
the method and if documented evidence of experience exists,
including the preparation of NDT procedures to codes, standards, or
specifications and the evaluation of test results.

● Re-certification by evidence of continuing satisfactory technical


performance is not allowed.
● Recertification shall be by re-examination.
● General, specific and Practical examination shall be conducted for

● Maximum recertification intervals shall be 3 years for Level I and


Level II personnel and 5 years for Level III personnel.

recertified by examination.
● Level III personnel may be recertified by written (Basic waived)
Method, Specific, and Practical Examinations and the
Demonstration Examination.

● Alternatively, Level III may be recertified by only the written Method


and Specific Examinations, provided the following Five conditions
are met
1) He was previously certified /recertified using all the written examinations and
the Demonstration Examination.
2) He is not being recertified due to interrupted service as defined in the written
practice.
3) He is not being certified by a new Employer.

4) For initial certification, the grades for the Basic, Method, Specific, Practical,
and Demonstration Examinations shall be averaged to determine the overall

● A lead symbol “B,” with minimum dimensions of 7/16 in. (11 mm)
in height and 1/16 in. (1.5 mm) in thickness, shall be attached to
the back of each film holder during each exposure to determine if
backscatter radiation is exposing the film.

NDE subcontractor’s name or symbol may also be used together
with that of the Manufacturer.

● (a) Welds With Reinforcements. The thickness on which the IQI is
based is the nominal single-wall material thickness plus the actual
weld reinforcement thickness estimated to be present on both
sides of the weld (I.D. and O.D.). The values used for the estimated
weld reinforcement thicknesses shall be representative of the
weld conditions and shall not exceed the maximums permitted by
the referencing Code Section.
