MCT Observation Feedback Form

The MST (Mentor School Teacher) will use this form to formally observe the trainee’s performance and to give feedback based on the
selected teaching competencies.

Commitment to the Profession


Comments:
- Maryam’s professionalism during the lesson is commendable!!!
- She leads the lesson seamlessly as if this was her own classroom 😊😊
- Maryam’s MST agrees with me that Maryam is doing a SPLENDID job 😊😊😊
- Her previous observation, I noted, was very very good. This one is even better !!!

Planning for Learning


Comments:
- Well selected video: students are watching with great focus!
- The rest of the resources are well planned, well organized and the entire lesson has simply been very
well thought through.
- Planning is fantastic overall!

Managing Learning
Comments:
- Students are SO quiet and well behaved during the entire lesson 😊😊
- Maryam repeats the rules from the get-go, in a firm but positive manner. “I want you to be great –
OK?” she says enthusiastically.
- “Raise your hand”, says Maryam. She manages questioning and student responses VERY WELL 😊
- It’s amazing how responsive and attentive students are to Maryam.
- She asks a student to get resources (blocks) for her. This is done very quickly!
- Maryam gives instructions on what to do when students are finished; she tells them to raise their
hands if they need help.
- The class is extremely well managed. It is so calm and ideal for learning!!! Maryam’s excellent
management skills, her firmness and positivity have a great effect on the learning atmosphere 😊😊
- Maryam gives adequate positive reinforcement.
- A reward is given to group 5 for behaving very well: all students respond to this management
strategy!

Implementing Learning
Comment:
- Maryam tells a story about a crocodile that ‘eats the greater number’ – she uses excellent intonation and has
obtained ALL students’ attention!! 😊
- Maryam makes students repeat key concepts several times – EXCELLENT reinforcement and for
language development😊😊

- Maryam gives very prompt and clear instructions to each group – very well done (simply be careful to
show the worksheet to all students while you’re explaining).
- She repeats, several times, not to forget name and date on the worksheet.
- Maryam does an excellent job supporting students during the main learning activity: she patiently
prompts and questions the lower-level students, and helps them complete their tasks on their own.
- The plenary is managed very well by Maryam: she solicits answers from numerous students in the
class.
- Maryam says: “Ismail- say one is greater!” – she insists that student repeat the correct statement
when they make a mistake.
- Maryam asked “ What did you learn today?”. Students are, for the most part, able to answer this
higher level question. Good way of ‘pushing’ the students to think and to develop their language
skills.

Assessment
Comments:
- Maryam knows which students still need additional help.
- She assessed the students throughout the lesson by questioning them and observing them.

Reflection on Practice
Comments:
- Maryam is very happy with her lesson – as she should be!!! She identifies the positive improvement
compared to the previous observation: activities were more creative, time management was very
good and instructions were given a lot more effectively (and at the appropriate time).
