an Australian mining company
based in the Philippines because
their mining operations have
violated both human and
environmental rights.
Summary: Its not only land that is
affected by mining but the lives and
communities of people around it. In
the Philippines, mining companies
are required to make binding
commitments that will benefit the
affected communities. But the
current state is that mining laws are
used as a leverage to override the
legal protection of the people who
are informally living in the area thus
resulting to the people there living in
worse conditions due to lack of land
for farming, water scarcity and
illnesses brought by mining
operations.

Concept: The last step of mineral
exploration is very crucial. The repair
of environmental damages is
essential in the lessening of the
overall impact of mineral excavation
to the earth and the laws pertaining
to this should be strictly implemented
and followed by all legal mining
operations to ensure a safe and
proper mineral exploration that is not
of risk to the masses and to nature.
Concepts: Mineral exploration is a
big industry and with this comes
large numbers of people and
destruction as well comes is very
eminent as well. Thus, mining
operations must be responsible as
well to the consequences brought
by mineral exploration and mining
operations.
Concept: In all instances of mining
operations no matter how small or
big-scale it is all factors that are
affected by it must be taken into
consideration and must be
compensated justly. The government
must look past just the economic
value but also the value of nature
and the lives of people, so
restoration must be just as strictly
followed as all other steps of mineral
operations.
Summary: After the Marawi crisis
President Rodrigo Duterte wants to
focus on the problem of mining
impasse and wants miners to pay for
damage to farms and fishponds.

International Conference and

Concept: Open discourse is one way
of solving problems about mining.
Mining companies should also
educate themselves on better ways
to make efficient and less
destructive mining operations and
attending summits, conferences and
talks can be one of the ways they
can be better mining companies.
Concept: Mining is not as bad as we
think it is, yes it also has it’s cons but
one of its pros is that it the building
blocks of innovation and in order to
provide a good image of the mining
industry good results should be seen
as well especially with the
rehabilitation processes that come
after.
Concept: Mineral resource is a great
economic booster indeed, and we
Filipinos must also learn to use our
abundance to an advantage.
Allowing our country to better its
Mining Industry through technology
and other means can benefit the
country greatly but not to the extent
of exploitation and abuse.

reported that during the past
decade, demand has increased for
technologies such as industrial
automation and control systems,
simulator-training, equipment
controls and guidance, advanced
mine-surveying technologies,
underground mining and surface
drilling technologies, and machine
guidance and control systems.
The article predicts that demand for
cloud-based services, mining’s
industrial “Internet of Things,” and
new visualization, simulation and
optimization software will influence
the mining industry over the next 5-10
years, and that the increasing use of
remotely-controlled automated
equipment will be the most
important development.
Concept: Remote monitoring and
control of equipment allows miners
to automate industrial processes like
blasting, drilling, and transportation.
The new, automated equipment
used to perform these tasks is faster,
more accurate, and can cover
more area in less time. Efficiencies
are gained through continuous,
consistent operations, improved
communications, and reduced
infrastructure. Mine site safety can
be improved by removing personnel
from dangerous environments and
placing them in remote control
rooms where they can operate
equipment from a safe distance.
