Understanding the role of entrepreneurship in new & existing organizations is critical


in today¶s global economy. Examines issues relating to starting & managing new
ventures & assessing & pursuing opportunities in existing firms. Discusses the theory

& principles of entrepreneurship to enable students to assess & evaluate
opportunities & through the preparation of an actual opportunity assessment and
business proposal.
The course is designed to help students evaluate the business skills and
commitment necessary to successfully operate an entrepreneurial venture and
review the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. Students will learn about
22 Course Description themselves, their decisions, and their goals to determine how entrepreneurship can
play a role in their lives. Students will also be introduced to entrepreneurship from an
economic perspective and he concepts of environmentally sustainable practices and
social entrepreneurship.

The course is designed to provide the background of the following topics

1. Discuss examples of current entrepreneurship, their companies, and the


importance to both the national and global economics.
2. Research and evaluate the personal attributes and skills that characterize the
successful entrepreneur.
3. Compare the personal characteristics and interest to that of the ³successful´
entrepreneur.
4. Identify and assess sources of support for small business and entrepreneurs.
23 Course Objectives 5. Research and explain issues relevant to entrepreneurs such as green
business practices, environmental sustainability, social entrepreneurship and
intellectual property.
6. Knowing the critical factors that are used to identify business startup ideas
including forms of ownership.
7. Identify and evaluate methods of entering an entrepreneurship venture
including but not limited to starting a new venture, buying an existing business,
or becoming a franchise.
8. Identify & understand the financial, marketing, legal, human resource,
operations, and general management skills that are necessary to successfully
launch and operate a successful new venture.
After the end of this course, the students will be able to:

1. Class Attendance:
Class attendance is mandatory (at 80% of classes) to qualify for grading as per
university policy. But I will grade you on the basis of your in time presence. So
after taking attendance of the class (usually in the beginning of the class), there
will be no provision for recording attendance.
One absent will be counted for three late coming.
2. Class Participation:
You should attend class, come prepared,and participate in the discussion. Your
participation will help you to get better understanding of the course material.
Feel free to ask questions,or relate personal experiences that add to our
understanding for the material.
3. Assignment and Group Report:
Failure to submit the Assignments, Group Report on the due date will result in
50% deduction from the possible score.

Additional Course 4. Make-up Exams:


29 Makeups of Term exams (midterm/finals) are strongly discouraged. However, in
Policies
case of extreme emergency and with proper explanation and relevant
supporting documents ONLY ONE MAKEUP EXAM will be entertained.
There will be NO Improvement exam.

5. There is NO provision for make-up of missed classes and quizzes.


6. Cell phone should be silent at the class.
7. You are expected to follow the course outline counseling time-table as set
out in this course.
8. The project involves a written report and an oral presentation. A detail for
preparing the term project and oral presentation will be distributed in due time.
9. Instructor will take necessary action as per university regulations, if they
adopt any sort of unfair means in any class test/quiz, midterms or final exam.
10. Instructor reserves the right to make necessary changes in the course
content depending in the progress of the class.
