Technology usage in classrooms are heavily implemented, but is there too much
technology? This question is asked throughout the United States because it is an arising
issue. The history that surrounds this question is controversial. Older generations argue that
technology is a distraction from the learning process while newer generations debate that
technology helps students learn quicker. I know about this topic because it is an ongoing
debate in today's society. Technology is argued that it is a great learning tool to help kids
remember what they learned, but it is argued that same method is better on pencil and
paper. Some examples of pen and paper methods that help students remember are
handwritten flashcards or paper tests; although, tests are now being moved online as well
as flashcards. I also know that technology can be a great way to teach students the course
material if they are not distracted by time-wasting websites or video games. Teachers are
able to use technology by having students use their laptops to do research for a paper or
to use laptops during class to listen to lecture videos. In the past, my teachers have had
my classmates and I listen to videos because my teacher decided that the video had put
the course material into better words than they could. I find that students constantly play
video games or do other homework while a teacher is lecturing or teaching a new topic.
In the Forbes article, Michael Horn says, “when I was a student at Harvard Business
school, far fewer of us paid attention to the case discussion on the couple days at the end
I can use keywords like college technology or impact of computers. I can ask UNCC
teachers and students their input on technology in classrooms. I would also ask students
how often technology distracts them during class. The student union is a great place to
interview students to receive their intake on different topics. The geography of this question
is expanded throughout the entire United States; although, it could expand to Europe because
technology is being used in European classrooms as well. Other questions that I ask are:
class? How much more technology is going to be incorporated into the classroom? Should
