Prompt 1:

To further develop your understanding of the importance of self-assessment and self-

reflection, read this article. After you read share in your writer’s notebook something you
agree with, something you question, and something you might add to the discussion.
The important thing here is just that I can see you are processing what you read, so
don’t worry too much about grammar or spelling.

Overall, this article was very beneficial to me, due to the fact that applying for
colleges and college essays will soon be approaching me. One thing I agree with
in this article is that students want to know everything they can gather from each
college and they look at all sources they can find. Its hard to find a college that is
right for me, but I know that it's still this way because I have only researched, not
visited. Something I might add to the discussion is the fact that students
sometimes dont pick colleges that are right for their mental or social needs and
its important to keep up with your ac ademic achievement, you can find the social
part after you start learning and growing. Being yourself is hard for some people,
they mask themselves or try and blend in with others. Being yourself comes
easily for some people.

Prompt 2:

My gut feeling when I think about having a job someday is kind of scary. I want to
find a job that is right for me that I will enjoy and a lot of people who are
employed complain about their job or get bored of it easily. What excites me
about getting into college and out of school is the fact that I will really be
considered an adult and will get the chance to experience things on my own.
What is intimidating about it is the fact that it could be really hard in college and
things do not always go as planned. I worked at a pool club for a summer and
made food and served for the restaurant they had upstairs. After that long, hot
summer, I realized I wanted a more all year round job and began working at
Freddys. They aren't the best with scheduling, due to overscheduling me, but I do
enjoy getting to talk to the people around me and I actually enjoy my job. I believe
the difference between a career and a job is that a job is something you intend to
have for a while, but a career is something you've worked for and will be with for
a very long, extended period of time.

Prompt 3:

The characteristic I hope to show and shine through my college essay is how I
am creative and a problem solver. To be completely honest, I am not quite sure
what story I am going to tell in order to complete my essay. I will keep it simple by
only including details that are clear, concise, make sense, and are relevant to the
person who is reading my college essay. I will be myself, by not pretending to be
anything or anyone that I am not. Being something that I am is very important to
me because I hate being similar to others and I like to be quirky and unique.

Prompt 4:

Read the article linked here and answer the questions.

What is the author’s argument? The article was written in 2011, do

you believe that the sentiment holds true in 2019? What have you
heard (from parents, teachers, coaches, friends) about posting
online and how it can affect your future? Do you believe the hype?
Provide an example of a positive AND negative post and explain
how it affected that person.

The authors argument is that in order for people to notice you and
get attention and feedback you need to be quirky and creative. You
are not going to get someone to notice you and look deeper into
your blog or application if you dont have interesting and
incomparable information and hobbies. Also, the digital footprint and
branding is also really important right now. It's important for people
to get the positives of you in person and online. If people search
you online, you should have positive information, pictures, and
interesting blogs and information. Positive posts that can affect
people are getting scholarships after seeing sporting videos, art
work, singing, etc. Negative posts are sexual posts, or the
consumption of alcohol and/or drugs.

everything's the same, but social media posts are not.

the article you read?

Two things I included are pictures and a hobby that sets me

apart from others. I included what I take part in as well.

1. Read the article here.

2. The article notes,”A slightly macabre way of identifying your personal
values (but a very compelling one) is to imagine your own funeral.” Take
this writer’s notebook to detail what you hope your obituary will read.
Make sure to include the values and characteristics that are more
important to you. Write 8+ sentences for full credit.

I am kind of uncomfortable thinking about my obituary. It's a weird

thing to think about because I dont think I will write it anytime soon.
In my obituary I hope it includes good traits that I have and what I
was involved in. I hope that my friends also have an input in it as well.
Maybe something along the lines of “Sage was a theater person.
Someone who loved designing as much as she loved trying to cheer
people up.” Its weird to think of those things right now; this is
because I can't even think about my future let alone my death.

lots of money. Use this data on family budgets to argue against his position.

money reasonably in my opinion.
