Teaching Guide in Oral Communication in Context


First Quarter of the First Semester
June 25 & 26, 2018
Topic:
Communication (Nature, Elaments, and Process)
Content Standard:
The learner understands the nature and elements of oral communication in context.
Culminating Performance Standard:
The students should be able to proficiently deliver various speeches using the principles of effective
speech delivery.
Power Standard:
Engages in a communicative situation using acceptable, polite and meaningful communicative
strategies
Learning Competencies:
Minimum: Defines communication
Explains the nature and process of communication

Beyond Minimum: Explains how communication is being done


Performs a short conversation applying the correct process of communication

Specific Objectives:
The learners are able to explain “communication” and are able to give daily experiences which involve
communication

Time Allotment: 120 minutes

Introduction:
Guide Question:
Why is communication essential to human life?

The teacher will let the learners play the game called “Cottilion Talk” wherein they will be given a chance to
talk to one another to share their insight about “Communication”
Motivation:
The teacher will give the learners two (2) minutes to combine all the important words about communication
that they got upon talking to their classmates and afterwards let them share it in class.

Instruction/Delivery:
1. The learners will list down possible ideas that will let them understand “communication” easily.
2. The teacher will guide the learners in discovering the meaning of communication together with it’s
elements
3. The learners will review the defintion they had made in the earlier activity and assess if he/she got the
same thought
4. To give the learners enough practice after the discussion of each form and supplement learners’
understanding, the teacher will ask them to think of the questions below:
a. What is the importance of communication?
b. How do the elements help communication to be transferred easily and effectively?

5. The teacher together with the learners will integrate the Gospel Value of Integirty to their lesson to
make them realize that they must always be honest because honesty is the beginning of good things.
Practice:
The learners will be grouped into five (5) and they will be given a time to make an acrostics of the
word “COMMUNICATION.” They may use word/phrase to express their ideas. Afterwards, they will
also be given time to present their work in front of the class.
Enrichment:
The learners will be given a short identification quiz to assess their understanding of the discussion

Evaluation:
The learners will be grouped into five (5) and will let them create and perform a short skit featuring daily
activities that use communication.
