You are tasked to document the architecture and history of an

old municipal hall. Please describe your methodology in

documenting the structure, step-by-step.
In my field, proper ways of documenting the site will really matter in the process of
Architectural heritage preservation. This process are tedious it does not matter if the one that
you are doing are the things that you love. My first step is Desk Research, a way where I will be
able to synthesize all the 2nd hand data that may be available for the given structure. If possible,
the best source of data are first hand data which are documents that proves the existence of the
building ( e.g. building plans and specifications, contract documents) Second is Familiarization or
actual site visit. This method is very effective for architecture student like me because I was able
to do many site visits of historical buildings. In this step, I used the concept of sense of place
which is a method used by Kevin Lynch, an urban planner and designer. With this method, I will
be able to do the imagine all the collective details of the building that makes up its historical
context. The third one is Documentation which includes photo documentation and the analysis
of the morphology or form of the buildings. Lastly, the Statement of Significance which is giving
assessment by criterion ( the architectural, Scientific, historic, Social and Spiritual Value

You are tasked to document an heirloom relic that has been

passed on to a certain family from generations back. Please
describe your methodology in documenting the relic
Documenting a Relic is I think much tedios than the Architectural method of documentation. The Tedios
part is that it is something that are much tangible and being a families heritage means a lot of
consideration on the context of the relic. My first approach is gathering datas which includes research
from different literatures. This will help me to gain my first knowledge about the relic. I think that it is
also important to handle the first data lightly so that I will be ready to furthermore generate more
synthesize information. The second part is processing the data and turn it to a synthesize information.
The informations will be based on the synthesize data that are gathered along the research process.
Next , a set of criteria will be associate with the research for the appropriate restoration process of the
project. After this step, the relic will undergo a type of restoration that is appropriate for the given
context and condition of the relic
You discovered about an annual town ritual that was no longer being
practiced by the community, but you were able to meet the last living
person who used to practice it. This person, however, is very old and
is already suffering from dementia. How will you try to get information
about that old town ritual? *

Assessing the cultural heritage of the town may be tedios when a long practiced activities is slowly
fading away. Giving the situation of the town, I think that the process of heritage assessment is needed
much more in this situations. My approach to this situation is community based assessment which can
be a most viable way of assessing the tradition. Community assessment means documentation of the
community. Proper inventory of the community practice may lead to the solving the problem in
preserving the slowly neglected tradition. It is also important to have the consent of the community as a
respect to the customs and tradition of the community. Respecting the customs and tradition of the
community means that you’re actively engage in the goal of preserving their identity. The next one is
having the N.G.O and L.G.O to participate in the effort of preserving the community’s culture. After this
steps, you may draw up some conclusions on how you will help the community in restoring their
tradition. In this methods, I think that I will be able to help the community to rethink and promote their
cultural heritage

What was the most difficult situation you have ever faced in your life?
What are the things that you have done to deal with the situation?
The most difficult times of our lives sometimes started when we take our first step in doing what we
love. The most difficult times happen at tough times and it creates tough people. In the last 21 years of
my life, I have experience the most difficult times in the moment I took the thing that I love,
Architecture. Doubting myself was I think the most difficult time of my life. It is like a desolated place
with no image and context. I thought that I was doing great but I am just not that good enough. I
doubted myself so hard that I was in the verge of shifting to other program. In this situation, I realize
that identity is the most important thing in someones life and it becomes my lifelong goal. To restore
the identity of a place and to restore its glorious image. It is also the time that I engage in Heritage. I
think that heritage is not something you hear or see or taste. Sometimes true heritage is what you feel
in a place because the place itself imply its own context. Heritage is not something you eat but it gives
you more than what you need.
