In celebration of the Christmas season, we would like you to prepare a project on

Christmas celebrations and traditions from around the world. Please read and follow the
general guidelines below for your project. Have fun with this project, make it as
interesting as you can and be creative with your designs.

Students will host a Celebration Fair (December 12th, 2019) where students will
showcase the many Christmas traditions celebrated during the holiday season all around
the world.

Here is a description of the project requirements:

1. Visit http://www.keyknox.com/socstudies/heath/hotlists.htm and from

one of the scavenger hunt links, choose two research questions (your
choice) to answer from the list provided.
Each question provides a web link to a reading that will help you.
 Here is another great site offering additional information for your
research project: http://www.whychristmas.com/cultures/

2. Describe each tradition or celebration. Tell us things like what

tradition are you presenting, when and where each tradition is celebrated,
who is present, how it came to be, why it is celebrated, etc.

3. You must include a map in your presentation. Make reference to the

country’s location.

4. On Thursday December 12th, you will host a Celebrations Fair to

show case work to your peers and parents.

This project may take on any form you wish. You are encouraged to
show your creativity!
Here are some ideas to get you started:

 Write an informational description of each tradition. Put these paragraphs on

the page with the tradition you are describing. Remember to use your best
hand writing or printing or you may use a computer. Make sure you have a
main idea sentence, proper sentence structure, proper punctuation and proper
spelling. Illustrate each tradition. You may use pictures from magazines, draw
the pictures or use family photos.

 Interview people who are from this country. We live in a very multicultural
society. Ask them questions that will provide us with lots of information. You
can present your interview in written form, or you may record or videotape it.

 Create a Photostory. You may include free internet photographs or your own
illustrations. We have microphones that you may borrow if you would like to
narrate your presentation. You can download Photostory software for free at
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=92755126-a008-
49b3-b3f4-6f33852af9c1&displaylang=en). Visit our Weebly for a direct link.

 Create a PowerPoint presentation.

 Record and edit a video using Movie Maker.

The sky is the limit!

Your projects are due by Monday, December 9th.

Projects will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

 Provides accurate details and explanations about each tradition

 Care and creativity (the project is well constructed and visually appealing)
 Presentation (speaks clearly & audibly, responds to questions with confidence)

Have fun and be sure to do your best work!
