Innovative Approach to Order Food Online
by using Android Application
and Web Application

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this project is to develop an online food
ordering system. It is a system that enable customer of
food to place their order online at any time and any place.
The reason to develop the system is due to the issues
facing by the food industry. These issues are such as peak
hour-long queue issues, increase of take away foods than
visitors, speed major requisite of food preparation,
limited promotion and advertising on current strategy,
and quality control of food management issues.
Therefore, this system enhances the speed and
standardization of taking the order from the customer
and displays it to the staff in the kitchen accordingly.
Besides that, it provide a user friendly web pages and
effective advertising medium to the new product of the
online food restaurant to the customer with cheaper
cost. Furthermore, it also extend and deliver customer
satisfactions especially to the hectic customer or
reaching the customer who are constrain of transport to
be in food restaurant. At the same time boost up market
share for food restaurant and increase return on
investment for the investor. The structured
methodologies have been chosen to develop the online
food ordering system.

I. INTRODUCTION
The online food ordering system is one of the latest
servicers most fast food restaurants in the western world
are adopting. With this method, food is ordered online
and delivered to the customer. This is made possible
through the use of electronic payment system.
Customers pay with their credit cards, although credit
card customers can be served even before they make
payment either through cash or cheque. So, the system
designed in this project will enable customers go online
and place order for their food. Due to the great increase
in the awareness of internet and the technologies
associated with it, several opportunities are coming up
on the web. So many businesses and companies now
venture into their business with ease because of the
internet. One of such business that the internet
introduced is an online food ordering system. In today’s
age of fast food and take out, many restaurants have
chosen to focus on quick preparation and speedy delivery
of orders rather than offering a rich dining experience.
Until recently, most of this delivery orders were placed
over the phone, but there are many disadvantages to this

The main advantage of this system is that it greatly
simplifies the ordering process for both the customer and
the restaurant. The system also greatly lightens the load
on the restaurants end, as the entire process of taking
orders is automated. Once an order is placed on the
webpage that will be designed, it is placed into the
database and then retrieved, in pretty much real-time, by
a desktop application on the restaurants end. Within this
application, all items in the order are displayed, along
with their corresponding options and delivery details, in
a concise and easy to read manner. This allows the
restaurant employees to quickly go through the orders as
they are placed and produce the necessary items with
minimal delay and confusion. The greatest advantage of
this system is its FLEXIBILITY.
II. SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY
In view of rapid development of computer technology
in almost all fields of operation and it is use in relation to
information management, it has become important to
look into the development of online ordering system for
firms to meet up demands of the customers. Therefore,
the food ordering and delivery system will help
customers and management to:
• This system will be going to help customers and
management in restaurant especially part of
ordering.
• Advertise available foods in their company.
• Reduce the workload in the present system.
• Reduce time wastage in data processing.
• Create a platform for online purchase and delivery.
• Keep accurate record on purchase order and
delivery.
• The result of online ordering will give easy to make
ordering and hopefully can smoothen up the job.
• This system will change the form manual system to
computerized system.
III. LITERATURE REVIEWS
All of the main restaurants around the globe include
food delivery services so that they can facilitate their
customers whenever possible. Even though a large
proportion of population wants to spend their free time
going out to different exotic restaurants with their
friends and families however on some occasions they also
prefer to have the prepared food delivered at their home.
There might be occasions when a person might expect
visitors and does not have enough time to prepare a meal
for them. The weather conditions and home gettogethers
may also cause people to use the home delivery services
of their favorite restaurants when they are unable to go
out. There is no doubt that this service has increased the
demand for customers for restaurants who are making
use of them.
The system requires the user to build an intranet
network within the restaurant and there will be a central
database server resides in the network and the client can
perform data. Food ordering system is a solution that can
help the restaurant to expedite their customer services
as well as management aspect. After the system has been
implemented in the restaurant, the flow food ordering
process will be changed to computerize [4]. Waiters have
to take orders by choose the food that wish to order from
the menu on the mobile devices as the input and the data
will be send to the central database, after that the
computer reside in kitchen will retrieve the data from the
central database and display on the computer screen [1].
After the food is being cooked, the employee in kitchen
can confirm the food order and update to the database.
So the delivery system is best option for those who wants
to order food and also wants that their order should
deliver directly to their place. This work as once you order
your food from you desire restaurants, the restaurant
manager will tell the delivery boy of their restaurant to
drop the order the at customer’s place.
Following demo graphical profile is based on the
survey of 372 restaurants

The above figure 1 show us that the people prefer eat
in, our system can be in use for those people as they can
book their table and also order whatever they want to
enjoy food at restaurants. This can save the time of
everyone. Because now a days restaurants are
completely packed and people have to wait for hours for
their turn. This will also useful for handicap people as
they don’t have to wait for their turn.
IV. PROPOSED SYSTEM
Online ordering system that I am proposing here,
greatly simplifies the ordering process for both the
customer and the restaurant. System presents an
interactive and up-to date menu with all available options
in an easy to use manner. Customer can choose one or
more items to place an order which will land in the Cart.
Customer can view all the order details in the cart before
checking out. At the end, customer gets order
confirmation details. Once the order is placed, it is
entered in the database and retrieved in pretty much real
time. This allows Restaurant Employees to quickly go
through the orders as they are received and process all
orders efficiently and effectively with minimal delays and
confusion [2].
It also includes the dine in system, in which customer
can either order through online or then enjoy the food at
restaurants, as it can also save our time. Other than that
it includes the table reservation in which the customers
can check the status of tables from any restaurants, so
that the customers will have the knowledge about the
restaurants reservation availability for Dine In. This will
save the time of customers especially of those who
usually have business meetings in restaurants or cafe. [3]
V. METHODOLOGY
When conducting the research, some systematic steps
in order to provide the food ordering system with routing
optimization features. Those steps also represents
Software Development Life Cycle which are shown in
following
Figure 2. Software Development Life Cycle
The above figure 2 shows each steps the activities are:
i. Observe the delivery service business process of
several food franchises in Pakistan. These observed
business processes are the based to develop the
propose food ordering system in research.
ii. Study on GPS technology in order to gather
information, data and knowledge that can be used
to develop the system. In this research, the
developed application uses the GPS technology in
Android smartphones. iii. Study about the Google
Map API, This process aims to explore the features
and functionalities offered by Google Maps. The
study uses the resources available on the Internet
and universities library.
iv. Using the result of phase (i), (ii) and (iii), we
conduct analysis to produce complete information
for developing the system.
v. In design phase, we design the system using the
information provided by analysis phase. This
phase provides the blueprint for the developed
system.
vi. During the implementation phase, the application
is developed using the chosen technology and
tools.
vii. To confirm the functionalities of the application, a
testing phase is entered in which the application is
tested using several test case.

VII. STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
As industries are fast expanding, people are seeking for
more ways to purchase products with much ease and still
maintain cost-effectiveness. The vendors need to
purchase the products in order to sell to end users. The
manual method of going to their local food sales outlets
to purchase food is becoming obsolete and more tasking.
Food can be ordered through the internet and payment
made without going to the restaurant or the food vendor.

VIII. COMPARISON OVER DIFFERENT
APPLICATIONS
The difference in our application and any other
application is that, other application provides only
online food ordering in means the only take orders from
customers and deliver them. Some applications don’t
even provide the location of delivery man because of
that the customer don’t know until when there order
will be delivery.
In our application we’re providing everything to reach
the customer satisfaction. Like as it is an online food
ordering system just like any other applications but we
have some advance facilities, the customer when order
the food they can locate the location of delivery boy
other than that they can also place order for take away.
In addition the customer can also booked the table for
dine in using our application and they can also check for
the status of tables in any restaurants.
IX. CONCLUSION:
In this paper, literature review has covered the number
of selected papers that have focused on online food
ordering system. With online ordering, you will enrichen
the customer experience by making the process of
placing orders a lot easier. It will show that you value
your customer’s time. Online ordering will guarantee a
level up to your web presence. Moreover, a good web
presence will make you stand out in the search engine
rankings and bring more customers. Online ordering will
boost your productivity by eliminating the inefficient
process of taking orders. This application is a friendly user
as it can easily be use by people of every age.
Overall, we have created this application in focus of
future ordering system, this application will helpful to
many people. From the survey above, it can be said that
development and improvement of online ordering
system is growing rapidly as every now and then other
application is developed. Hence, this application provides
some new functions that will be easy to access and will
save time of customers.
