Android TV extends the Android platform to the biggest screen in your home: your television. It brings
the Android apps and games you love, voice search and Google Cast to televisions and streaming media
players.

Watch hit shows, classic movies, and viral videos, or listen to music, from your favorite
apps. Rent or buy movies, shows, music, and more from a library of thousands of

Less browsing, more watching

Personalized recommendations appear automatically in your home screen. Control
Android TV with your remote, a gamepad1, or the Android TV Remote Control
mobile app2.

Say what you want

Voice search enables you to find entertainment or get information quickly. Search
for content, actors, or even what type of movie. Get answers to simple questions like
“what is the weather like in New York?”

Android gaming goes big

Play your favorite Android games, reimagined for TV, with a gamepad. Immerse
yourself in arcade racing, 3D battles, and beautiful adventures. Use Google Play
Games to sync your progress and achievements to your other Android devices3.

From one screen to another

Android TV has Google Cast built-in. Cast movies, music, and photos from your Android
or iOS mobile device or computer to your TV. Also, streaming content syncs across
your devices. Start a movie on your TV, then finish it on your tablet.
The Android TV home screen
From the Android TV home screen, you can easily access movies, TV shows, music, apps, games, and settings. On
the home screen, you will see 5 primary sections:

Discover new favorites Quickly find entertainment

Step 1: Press the button on your remote that takes you back to the
home screen.

Step 2: The recommendations row (above your apps) features cards

based on your interests and viewing history. Recommendations
are published by Google Play and the apps you’ve installed.

Step 3: Scroll right to view all recommendations.

Step 4: Select a recommendation to start viewing immediately.

Step 1: Return to the home screen or a specific app you want to

search.
• If your remote has a microphone icon, press the button and say
what you want.
• Navigate to and select the magnifying glass if your remote does
not have a microphone icon.

Step 2: Search for entertainment by name, actor, director, or genre:

Say “[movie title]” or “movies set in New York”

Experience Android games on the big screen Google Cast built-in

Step 1: From your home screen “Apps” row, open Google Play Games.

Step 2: View your gaming Profile, view other Players and what they’re
playing, or Find Games to play.

Step 3: Scroll through suggested games under “Find Games.” Read

game descriptions1 to find a game you’re interested in, such as
a game that supports multiplayer mode or the gamepad2.

Step 4: Select a game you’re interested in, then click “Buy” to view more
information before installing.

Step 1: Connect your phone, tablet, or computer to the same

WiFi network as your Android TV device.

Step 2: Open an app that supports casting, such as YouTube.

Step 3: Select a video you want to play and touch or click the
Cast icon.

Step 4: Choose your Android TV device, press play, then control

playback on your phone, tablet, or computer.
