What can I say about the law?

People are run, mostly, by their wants, and law gives them order. I read this days ago on a
broadsheet, which I remembered when the topic on what law is, and I think this captures what
law is. It is a written formula that guides the people on what to do based on what they have
experienced to attain the common good. When I had the consciousness to think, law is already
there, basically, in politics which is always debated upon, from simple matters, the law has
something to say about it. The law puts things into its proper place.
Law has been there ever since, even before the written texts existed, from the simple
arrangements between persons, law has already been in its effects, but for the purposes of having
it in a more formal way, people compiled such arrangements that will make it a standard to be
follow, as not to have any confusion regarding certain matters. These compilations had been
talked about objectively as to attain justice and equity for the common good.
Even if, these laws have been taken to effects, there are still times, that situations are
higher than the written text that is presented to govern us. And this circumstances only proves to
us that there will be no perfect set of laws, but this should not impede us in following the laws.
Just come to think about a place that will not be governed by laws, chaos will be of its immediate
effects. And it is one of the primary reasons that laws are established, to avoid such happenings
in advance.
Just like in our houses, there are such arrangements that are made that are not set as a
written law, but are known from the boundaries of the family. For example, doing household
chores and doing the dishing. These two are not included in such written law, but are managed
within the family so that there will be order and good relation from each other. Even those who
are not an expert in such a field have the idea of this basic things. Mountain people did not have
enough education, but they know what to do with their animals and crops, they do not need to
graduate just to manage their small farm in order for it to run.
In this regard, we can see that laws are not created to have strict implementations upon
the people, but to guide them to have an organized society. And it always saddens me when I
hear stories that the law has not been given justice to the less fortunate or those who cannot
afford to be defended of their rights. Lawyers are to give justice to people, but the sad part is
they defend their client’s personal interests, these gives us the picture that those who have more
are being favored even if it should mean justice.
Basically, these laws are not just to be bounded by the written formula. It is grounded on
a greater force than those of that are written, principle, if I may call them. These principles
should be behind every law that we have. It is pain-staking when laws are made for the benefits
of the few people, when laws are to be based for their own good, that makes others people worse
than they have. Especially in our country, where laws are not fully implemented, wealthier
persons are favored, for the sole reason that they can pay, and Filipinos are self-centered. I think,
this is really what we lack, to have a mentality for the everyone, where not even a single being is
left alone. How beautiful will it really be, when people always think holistically, wherein we can
even live, even without laws.
