The Tempting in the Wilderness

The Testing of the Cup
All believers have the ability to live in the flesh or the Spirit of Christ.
You can choose to live in your first birth or your second birth. The flesh brings
forth destructions and death and the Spirit brings forth life and righteousness.
You can either walk in life or death today. It’s your choice! How can you know
you are walking in the Spirit? You are walking in the Spirit when you are walking
in obedience to the Word of God. Disobedience is a choice to walk in death.

At this time of the year we celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus declared to us believers in the book of John that He is the WAY, the TRUTH,
and the LIFE. No man comes to the father but by Him! He is the ONLY WAY to
God. Just what does His birth, His life and His death mean to us?

Jesus came to live a sinless life and to offer the blood of that life to God
as an acceptable sacrifice for His life and ours. God did accept that blood and
through His blood we can be made acceptable also. Jesus lived a perfect life of
FAITH. By our faith we trust in His life of faith and we are born into the body
of Christ. When we become born again, God sees us through the perfect blood
of Christ. That’s how we can come before God and make our request known.
Because of Christ, we believers can call God Abba (Daddy) Father!!!! Those
who are under the blood are no longer under the wrath of God!!! God is going to

wrath. Many people differ about how God is going to spare us from His wrath,
and you may not understand all prophecy, but remember and rely on this; you are
not under that wrath because Jesus has redeemed you and that is all that matters.
Not only do we now stand sinless before God, we are also no longer under His
wrath. Jesus is our ARK of deliverance. Praise God for so great Salvation.!!!

Jesus grew up like you and me. He grew in wisdom and stature. At 12
He was anxious to be about God’s business but submitted Himself to his parents
authority. You can see at the marriage where He turned the water into wine, that
his mother was ready for Him to be about His Father’s business. He went from
there to the baptism of John the Baptist, where God declared Him to be His Son,
in whom He was well pleased!

After His baptism, the Spirit of God took Him to the wilderness where
Satan met Him. Satan didn’t attempt to stop Him from fasting, He wanted Him
to be near starving when He brought the temptation to Him. There are three
things in the world. They are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the
pride of life. Satan tempted Jesus with these three things, and when Satan comes
to us he will use the same tactics. Jesus had the power to do what Satan tempted
Him to do, but it was Satan who was making the demands, not God. Had Jesus
done what Satan asked it would have been a work of the flesh and not a work of
the Spirit. Satan used the Bible to show Jesus could do it and Jesus used to the
Bible to prove He shouldn’t do it at Satan’s directions. Satan approached His

MONTHLY REPORT
We have many things to thank the Lord for this month. This is the be-
ginning of the 14th year for Tid Bits of Wisdom. We paid for the first edition’s
expenses believing that if it was of the Lord He would provide what we needed.
Most months we receive just a little above what it cost to mail the papers. We
take no salary. We have expenses for paper and equipment. We have had to buy
computers and printers plus labels and tabs for the paper. In all of these years
there has never been a month when we did not have the money for the expenses.
Sometimes it was close, but always there. This is a work of faith and God has
supplied every month. This is not what some would call a great work, but we
hear from time to time how this little paper has met the needs of someone’s life.
Those who support this work each month not only put their money into it, but
they also put their hearts into it and God has honored our efforts to make His
word known. This month our support was doubled because of some special gifts.
God knows our needs and He sends just what we need. Thanks to everyone who
joined us this month. One of our gifts this month was from someone who moved
into a house where we were sending the paper. They read it and ask to be placed
on the mailing list. You would be surprised just where all this paper goes. Many
read it and then give it to a friend or leave it in the doctor’s office. We have added
over 200 new addresses these last two months.
I really do not like to write about my health but I have had a rough two
months and a hospital stay. The doctors have been very straight-forward and let
me know that they have done all they know how to do to keep my heart going
and they consider me in heart failure. It’s all in God’s timing and I am ready for
my departure, but like Paul said, “For to me to live is Christ, to die is gain.” We
all know that this life is temporary. I have had a wonderful life since I came to
know Christ. It’s been 15 years since I was pronounced dead. The doctors are
amazed that I am alive today. One thing I am sure of is that God will say when.
So far I have been able to stay on my feet. I can’t walk far because it is hard to
breathe, but I am walking today. I am still teaching my Sunday School class and
by faith I accepted an invitation to preach in January. None of us have a promise
of tomorrow. BE READY. I appreciate all your prayers and support.
We do not take a salary from Tid Bits of Wisdom. Anything you send with Tid
Bits of Wisdom’s name goes straight to Tid Bits of Wisdom. The paper was 13 years
old this December and many who started with us have died or become unable to give.
Many have been faithful all these years. Pray and ask God if He wants you to join us
with a monthly support. We are grateful for our faithful supporters.

He had never been touched by sin. Remember, God cannot even look upon sin.
That is why He turned His back upon Christ. Jesus not only didn’t have a desire
to be touched by sin, He had never had God to turn His back on Him. He didn’t
desire to be separated from God. But if that’s what it took to redeem us, then
Thy Will Be Done.
We believers will be tempted of Satan and we will be tested of God.
God has a purpose for our lives and there is a cup that goes with that purpose. I
don’t know what is in your cup and you don’t know what is in my cup. Most of
us have said from time to time that we would be willing to die for Christ but the
question is, will we drink the cup that goes with that cross. All the disciples said
they would die for Christ, but when it came to the time of dying they all ran from
the cup of humiliation. They all left Him. Jesus also forgave them.
The cup is not always a testing. Sometimes it contains our blessing. I
don’t know what your cup holds today but I know that Jesus wants you to invite
Him into your heart today so He can share and sup that cup with you. Jesus
willingly shares our cup with us. When you are sick, He is sick. When you are
hungry, He is hungry. When you are naked, He is naked. (Matt. 25:34-40) How
often do we leave Him outside knocking at the door? He won’t sup with you if
you don’t open the door.
Are you resisting your cup of life today? Surrender and say, “Thy will
be done”. Crawl upon the cross and wait for your resurrection. You haven’t
begun to live until you have gone through the cross. When we plant a seed in
the ground we immediately look for green sprouts to come forth. It you really
believe in the resurrection, you won’t be afraid of the cross. We serve a risen
Savior, not a dead one.
Rev 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man
hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to
him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

WHY FIRE TRUCKS ARE RED
Fire trucks have four wheels and eight fire-fighters, and four plus
eight equals twelve. There are twelve inches in a foot. A foot is a ruler.
Queen Elizabeth is a ruler, and the Queen Elizabeth is one of the largest
ships on the seven seas. Seas have fins. The Fins fought the Russians. The
Russians are red. Fire trucks are always rushing. Therefore, fire trucks are
usually red.
If you think this is wild, you ought to hear some people explain why
they are not in church on Sunday!!!!

THE WOMB,
GOD’S CONTINUATION
OF CREATION
I believe the importance of woman’s position will not be completely un-
derstood until we get to heaven. While God’s work of creation was finished
on the 6th day, He continues to create today through the woman’s womb. He
doesn’t make changes to His creation; He just multiplies what He made that first
week. The fruit of woman’s womb is the handiwork of God. (Ps 139) God gives
conception. (Ruth 4:13) After Eve disobeyed God, He said He would multiply
her sorrow and conception. Having a baby is the closest you can come to death
and not die! It’s amazing that we have the second, third, fourth and so forth after
going through the pain and sorrow of the first. This is what Jesus said about birth-
ing.
John 16:21
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon
as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a
man is born into the world.

I thought that meant I wouldn’t remember anything after it was over. Not
so! I can still tell you every detail about my three births, BUT I don’t remember
the burden or anguish of my birthing. I would be willing today to be used of God
to birth a child if that was what God wanted me to do. In my old age that would
be one more miracle!!! If I could go back to my youth, I would leave it up to God
to tell me how many children He would like for me to birth. We look at our re-
sources and we think we know best, but only God knows how He desires to use

God entrusted Mary with a great work. Can you and I be trusted with
the work God’s given us? Do you have a husband? Are you doing your work

As women we have been entrusted with God’s creation. The male is to
bring glory to the image of God and the woman is to bring glory to the likeness
of God. The male is to glorify the Godhead and the woman is to glorify God’s
creation. Let’s look at Mary’s attitude toward God and His heart toward her.
Luke 1:46-55
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth
all generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

Luke 1:28 tells us that Mary was greatly blessed among women, not
above. She is not to be worshiped but she is to be honored.
I birthed three sons and I helped to raise four girls. My husband is in
what they call heart failure at this time. They don’t expect him to make it much
further. Our children are watching over us and making sure we are cared for. I’m
amazed at their actions toward us. I expected them to care, but they have gone
beyond what I expected. When I birthed them, I wasn’t thinking about these
days and the things I would need in these days. What a blessing our children are
to us. I see the love they have for their daddy today and I remember how close
we were to divorce years ago. Had I given up on God and Jerry, I would have
robbed my children of their father, and I would have never known the love that
we found in each other by trusting God and hanging in there in hard times. Are
you in a hard place? Run to God and hang on!!! You won’t be sorry.
 A Day in the Pastor’s House
(Jerry had just taken his first church when this happened)
It’s 4:00 am and Jerry is at the hospital with a young black man (about middle
twenties). He called our church last Wednesday and said he needed a bus ticket to San
Antonio and that he was hungry. Jerry told him to come to church and after church we
would take him to eat and buy him a bus ticket. He didn’t show up. Thursday he came
to the house while I was working with a family in the church and said he had a job driv-
ing a Taxi but he was hungry. Jerry invited him into the house and gave him a tuna fish
sandwich and a cookie. I came home and felt an uneasy feeling as I walked in the house.
Jerry met me in the kitchen and I asked, “What’s wrong?” He said, “What do you mean?”
I said, “I don’t know what I mean but I have an awful feeling. Then Jerry told me the
young man was in the back room with Joe. The young man walked into the kitchen and
he had a wonderful disposition, a real salesman, but he made the hair stand up on the back
of my neck and I didn’t know why. I could sense danger. After a full day Sunday, at 3:30
am Monday morning, the door bell rang twice. It wasn’t unusual to have missionaries
coming from Mexico to ring our door bell early in the morning, so I got up and started
for the door. All of a sudden I had that same feeling and the hair on the back of my neck
stood up. I went back and woke Jerry and told him to be careful. He turned on the porch
light and looked out the blinds. I never saw him turn out a light so fast. With bugged out
eyes he said, “ It’s that young man and he is stark-naked. All he has on is his shoes.” I
said, “Please don’t open that door, something is not right.” Jerry slowly opened the door
and the man asked if he would give him a towel to wrap around him. He was embarrassed
and sweating all over. He had been running the streets for a couple of hours. He said
he had a panic attack (and I knew what that was) but he had taken drugs. He asked for a
drink of water and said he felt like he was dying. Jerry asked if he wanted him to call the
police and he said yes. They were there within 5 minutes (the dispatcher was son to our
neighbor and he was worried about his mother). Jerry dressed and went to the hospital
with him.
My spirit warned me that he was not your average person. He had a very charm-
ing countenance yet something was wrong. Jerry wasn’t able to reach his heart. I felt
I had met Jeffrey, Dommer, the man who killed boys and buried them under the house.
Two nights later I was standing in the yard with some missionaries and the hair on my
arms stood up. I said, “That young man is around here.” I looked up and he was walking
down the street. The church bought him a bus ticket back North. There is no telling what
he had done. Jerry had preached to the church on the Sunday night before about not be-
ing burdened for the lost. Everyone was at the altar. The church responded like obedient
children, and we were tested to practice what we preached. Many times when reaching
out to help people we have been close to danger, but God is faithful to lead and protect us
if we will just care about others.
Prov 24:11-12
If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to
be slain;
If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider
it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every
man according to his works?

our lives. Now when He says a MAN is born, that could be male or female. God
made one man, male and female made He them! If you are a woman you are the
female portion of man! Don’t let anyone tell you that God is leaving you out
when He speaks of mankind. You are as much man as the male. A kindergarten
teacher asked her students to ask their parents which one they looked like. The
next day she asked little Johnny which one he looked like and he said, ”My
mother said I look like her but I have my father’s fixtures.” Both male and female
or man, they just have different fixtures. To reject your created place is to reject
your Creator. Think about it!!!
Gen 1:27-28
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and
female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replen-
ish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the
fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

The command was to be fruitful and multiply. The purpose of the act
of sex was to bear fruit. Today in America we pervert and worship the experi-
ence, not desiring the fruit of that experience. We have aborted enough babies
to fill Los Angeles, California two times. Satan has been out to destroy woman
from the very beginning. If he can’t destroy you, then he will use you to destroy
others. Look at how many women have been deceived and allowed someone to
enter their womb and kill their seed. Most of the time abortion is done to attempt
to erase the sin that brought the conception. Mothers encourage their daughters
to abort because they would be embarrassed if the sin was revealed to family and
friends. We should be embarrassed that the sin was committed. Woman, you
have a choice and that choice is to whom you give your body. Conception is the
result of your choice. You can’t erase sin by committing another sin. If God has
given you conception, then God plans to use the life of that child to mold and
make your life. (1 Titus 2:15)
Woman is the one to produce life and sustain life with the milk of her
body. Woman is OF the man, but the man is BY the woman. (1 Cor. 11:12) Nei-
ther one of us can fulfill God’s command without the other.
Just think! God entrusted Mary’s womb to bring forth the Son of God.
What must it have been like to raise the Son of God? If you have children you
have been entrusted with God’s work. Just as God had a purpose for the Son of
God, God has a purpose for your child. Your child will answer to God for what
they do with their lives, but we will answer to God for the way we respond to the
opportunity of molding and making that child ready for adulthood.
