CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

SWOT Analysis (short for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) is a

business strategy tool to assess how an organization compares to its competition (Dac

Teoli & Jason An 2019). Therefore, it is a planning process that helps the company to

overcome challenges and determine what new leads to pursue.

Analyzing of a given situation is giving a detailed examination of the elements or

structure of something. Having a necessary skill to analyze this study is by using

strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) strategy. According to Noah

Parsons (2018) strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis is an

incredibly simple, yet powerful tool to help you develop your business strategy, whether

you’re building a startup or guiding an existing company. To run a successful business,

you should regularly analyze your processes to ensure you are operating as efficiently as

possible. While there are numerous ways to assess your company, one of the most

effective methods is to conduct a SWOT analysis. Because according to Skye Schoole

(2019) the primary objective of a SWOT analysis is to help organizations develop a full

awareness of all the factors involved in making a business decision.

The researchers conduct the study to improve and develop the strengths,

weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) strategy of the company, that will help

them to have more profit and expand the business in the local industry. This involves the

internal environment that refers to the culture, members, events and factors within an
organization that has the ability to influence the decisions of the organization, especially

the behavior of its human resource. On the other hand, external environment is composed

of all the outside factors or influences that impact the operation of business. The business

must act or react to keep up its flow of operations.

In the business world, according to Efren C. Gimoto Jr. & Chalermchai Panyadee

(2018) the primary objective of this study is to formulate effective strategies in a specific

study by using Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis was

used to evaluate and process all collected data from the respondents, as well as the

information gathered from the initial organized discussions. Therefore, the SWOT

analysis will help the company to develop and improve their different sector by

evaluating and doing the process.

Statement of the Problem

The study sought to answer the following problems:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1 Length of service

1.2 Position

1.3 Educational Attainment

2. How is the business internal environment factors of Jocker’s Foods Industries be

describe in terms of:

2.1 Strengths

2.2 Weaknesses
3. How is in the business external environment factors of Jocker’s Foods Industries

be describe in terms of:

3.1 Opportunities

3.2 Threats

4. What are the implications of SWOT to business success of Jocker’s Foods

Industries?

5. How can be the SWOT strategy of Jocker’s Foods Industries be further improved?

6. Is there a significance relationship between the SWOT strategy and Jocker’s

Foods Industries success?

Statement of Hypothesis

There is no significance relationship between the SWOT strategy and Jocker’s Foods

Industries success.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The study of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats strategy Jocker’s

Foods Industries aims to extend the knowledge and information about financial strategic

management for the maximizing of profitability of the company. This study evaluates the

of the company with the hope that finding will prove useful to the following:

The Employees. This will enjoy more dividends if the company maximize profitability

and they can have more benefits, bonuses or promotions.

The Future Researchers. This will use the result of this study as benchmark in some

further research. And it will also help them to improve and collect information regarding

to the study.
The Jocker’s Food Industries. This study will provide some knowledge about the

strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats strategy of their company. It will give

them to have a better and innovative business in the future.

The Product Consumer. This will be benefited of the study if the company will be more

marketable and provide better services.

The Students. This will benefit for their further study and it will serve as guide to them

on what to do in making a SWOT strategy analysis.

The University. This study would enable the university to provide an

environment of learning, encouraging students to conduct researches that has a valid

impact to a business.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

The study will be conducted to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities,

and threats (SWOT) strategy on Jocker’s Foods Industries. And will gave us knowledge

on how to improve and develop the business, and also it will determine the other negative

aspect of the company.

The respondents were 50 of the employee of Jocker’s Foods Industries. They will

serve as the key informants of the study. In relation with the conceptual framework the

study is hereby to analyze the relationship between the strengths, weaknesses,

opportunities, and threats strategy of Jocker’s Foods Industries and the strategy

development of Jocker’s Foods Industries.
