Introduction of the Project:

This project report contains a detailed background to the study by observing,

organizing and articulating the discussion and information in which analysis of
the role of production in Textile industry is taken and briefly found other
factors which have been identified in the above investigated company as likely
to influence consumers to purchase and consume Clothes products in a
qualitative terms because quality attracts consumers and give them
ecofriendly environment and satisfaction of the product they are encountering
.
Pakistan’s economy and population have been touched on to highlight the
growth in the textile sector and how it is impacting the country’s gross
domestic product. The more consumers purchase clothes, the more
contribution to the gross domestic product will be made. The study’s
significance is also discussed at length, in which we observed that how much
quality impact and give meanings to the consumers and how they are
ultimately the contributors in the country’s gross domestic product. According
to one research the clothes purchase behavior of a population all over the
world is highly increasing. People spent their money to purchase clothes in
very high extent. Consumers are more satisfied with qualitative products and
consumer wants a single factor at the base of their purchases and that factor is
quality. This research is made by observing, analyzing and suggestions in
investigating the Process control of soorty enterprises and their production
strategies that they are currently using in the company.
Purpose of the Project:

Every consumer demands quality and every marketer needs to identify the
factors which are the big contributors to the quality management and that
needs a qualitative research and development within the organization. There
are research departments of the company but company needs more
progressive research from outsiders, consumers, research students and this
project is observed and analyzed for the company’s benefit that first we
analyzed the problem or opportunities and gather data and at the end of the
research project implications were given to the company and if company
decides then probably that implications and findings which are applicable,
company may proceed to the further opportunity by implementing practically
those findings. Manufacturing processes and gaps which are identified
enlightens the potential causes of those processes which are not more efficient
and effective and gives implications in a more strategic and specified way
which can be applicable practically. We analyzed the data and organized to the
further strategic implications in this research project that how much it gives
potential solution to the above investigated company and when all researchers
are agreed to one point we will share those findings with the company.
This research proposal is the initiative that we are required to observe, organize,
and articulate and to give to our instructor for checking that are we on a right
track, what we are investigating under what conditions, how we make strategies
under research observations and how we can reach to a meaningful conclusion.
All this is the purpose and aim of this research project.
Industry Background:

The Textile industry is the largest manufacturing industry in Pakistan and

Pakistan is the 8th largest exporter of textile commodities in all over the Asia.
Textile sector contributes 8.5% to GDP of Pakistan. The sector employs about
45% of the total labor force in the country and 38% of the manufacturing
workers. Pakistan is the 4th largest producer of cotton with the third largest
spinning capacity in Asia after China and India and contributes 5% to the global
spinning capacity. At present, there are 1,221 ginning units, 442 spinning units,
124 large spinning units and 425 small units which produce textile.
There are six primary sectors of the textile production in Pakistan ;Spinning,
Weaving, Processing, Printing, Garment manufacturing, and Filament yarn
manufacturing. Cotton is the largest segment of textile production. Other fibers
produced include synthetic fiber, filament yarn, art silk, wool, and jute.
Currently there are these textile mills in Pakistan; Siddiqi sons Denim Mills
Limited, Artistic Milliners Pvt limited, Pak Denim limited, Artistic Fabric mills
, Al-Ameen Denim Mills Limited, Soorty Denim, Artistic Denim Mills Limited,
Siddiqi sons Industry , Mekotex Pvt Ltd, Kam International , X Pertex Denim

In the last decade weaving of denim fabrics has undergone dramatic changes
with a view to improving the comfort level and aesthetic aspects. On the other
hand export of cotton denim fabrics from Pakistan increased from 45 million sq
meters worth Rs 4.37 billion in 2005-06 to 229 million sq meters worth Rs
20.49 billion in 2009-10, thus showing an average increase of 74% per annum
in terms of value. Due to a series of advantages including a falling currency,
cotton fiber and yarn availability, modern equipment and strong incentives have
progressively built a wealthy denim industry, allowing developing denim
apparel production and direct denim fabric exports to other Asian countries and
also to Turkey. Textile sector is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and
contributes significantly to the export sector. It comprises of 521 textile units.
Pakistan is the fourth largest producer of cotton and third largest consumer. It
contributes 8.5% to the GDP and employs 38% of the workforce in the
manufacturing sector. Its share to the total export is about 56%. It is ranked 12th
in the global textile exports. Despite facing numerous challenges due to
persistent power crisis, high cost of doing business, poor law and order situation
and host of other issues, Pakistan’s textile exports managed to grow by 3%
during the year 2009-10 as against the exports of last year.
Supply of denim fabric from Pakistan is a specialized textile product with its
diversified increasing use in jeans, fancy & fashion apparels, curtain, bed
sheets, canvas, uniforms, long vies, fire resistance apparels FOR ALL SEASON
ALL AGES.
Denim fabric has recently been developed and over the last few years there is a
rapid growth and expansion in its use and production capacity in Pakistan.
There is constant increase in the export of denim fabric. The projected amount
for export for 2007 is US$:100 million = Rs.6100 million and Pakistan has
emerged as denim hub in the South East Asia. Our major exporting countries
are Turkey, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Kenya, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria
Latin American countries etc. etc.
There has been a phenomenal increase in the production capacity of denim mills
in Pakistan and at present there are about ten denim mills are in operation
producing denim fabric catering to the needs of local garments industry as well
as earning valuable foreign exchange for the country. Also providing substantial
job opportunities and generating revenues for the national exchequer.
Denim has been treated as a different textile product and was given a different
quota category under the pre-quota regime. There has been a minimum
investment of Rs. 1 billion on a small to medium size denim mill. Presently
there are more than 40 denim mills operating in Pakistan with local and foreign
investment of about Rs.40 billion.

defined as the parallel winding of yarn.

Beaming:

Beaming is the winding of the full width of the warps yarns in a single winding
operation on the beam.

Desizing:

It is an essential stage of all textile processing in which size is eliminated from

fabric before completion of the pre-treatment processes. The object is to remove
from the grey fabric the size that has been applied during weaving.

Crocheting:

Crochet is a process of creating fabric from yarn and a single hook of any size
can be used to make fabrics.

Sourcing & Bleaching:

Sourcing in textile terms is the process of natural as well as added impurities are

bleaching is to produce white colored fabrics by eliminating and destroying the
coloring matter with the help of bleaching agents.

Pretreatment:
Pretreatment in textile terms is a process for previous fabric dyeing which
involves sourcing and bleaching.

Area of Investigation:

“Process Control Department”

Every Marketer and firm intends to be the market leader and by maintaining the
efficiency and effectiveness in their system every firm may reach towards
potential results. Philip Kotler in his book marketing management 15 th edition
stated about the product concept and identified the factors which contribute to
the potentiality of any product. ‘Product concept’ says that consumer favor
those products which are offered to the consumer with highly possible quality.
However managers often work by believing that a better product will itself
captures consumer demands.
Soorty Enterprises is a textile industry and soorty manufacture clothes for
denim and soorty always works for the quality management for their product
and they follow TQM (Total quality management) concept in which they
eliminate the factors which are not efficient and effective for instance, low labor
efficiency. Soorty executive intends that we get involve in the production and
product improvement strategies in which we collect the data first then analyze
with our research and after then we are required to share findings.
We are required to analyze that how soorty enterprises increase their quality
production? , What factors that will contribute to the science behind quality
production? All these were the task given to investigate for soorty enterprises.
Although we collected some data from Soorty professionals and ready to
organize in a formable information.
Research Methodology:

● Qualitative data would be collected through interviews with Soorty

executives.
● Observation method would be collected through industrial observation
like, jordache, pull & bear etc.
● Once the data will be collected, final analysis will be presented in a
tabular form along with detailed discussion.
Industry Visitation and Experience:

During our visitation in the corporate sector, we encountered and captivated a

gigantic experience because in this project we as a research students
representing our institution with professional move visited the company for the
first time and we made 2 visits in the firm up till now, there are a lot of things
we observed for instance, if we talk about physical evidence first, from furniture
to artistic and creative decoration made a very positive, amazing, attractive
influence on us because all thing were organized in a very creative and
innovative way that we saw for the first time. Corporate sectors in TV
commercial and ads are attractive and dramatic but in reality they are more
fascinating and eye-catching.
Secondly if we intend to state our experience with people, professionals which
were present at the time of our visitation, they are also cooperative and gentle
but they have some restrictions and policies for the outside visitors for
management reasons, like if we say in terms of timing we waited a lot for
appointment and when we reached our motive of visitation that is our
appointment with the executive manager. We are not allowed to meet together
but in pairs. We like this presentable organization apart from physical evidence
their professionals were very presentable, they wore their profession ID cards, it
means that they were following their regulatory and daily polices, Furthermore
they all were in business attire even a receptionist is very mannerable and well
prepared for giving instructions and suggestions. Thirdly Soorty Enterprises
made a very easy process by mentioning all the areas within the organization
that is also very helpful because every area contains information and
identification.
At last when we meet our focal executive, He also is very cooperative and
appreciated us for our work that we were doing, he shared some information
about his corporation but the fact was that he was sharing in a very comfortable,
reliable and simple way. Some of our friends in other research courses were
very disappointed with their visit because nobody cooperates with them, they
told us while their visitation they encountered very extreme straightforwardness
which may hint towards the negative attitude. But the company we selected all
people were very cooperative rather they took time but they gave us positive
face of their attitude and corporation.

Source Evidence:

We have various sources for the basis of giving evidences that whether we
visited or not, we in fact visited but not have a variety of evidences but we have
much evidence to prove our trustworthiness that we actually visited the
company, met the specific executive for the discussion for our research project.
Apart from requirement we have authentic and reliable source evidence.
We collected the professional card from the executive and the reliable
information about him that will allow us to prove our experience and research in
a more meaningful and approvable manner. Thus this is our first source
evidence for the admiration.
We have Email in soft copy which we have received from Soorty Enterprises
professional and this is also a contribution to the source evidence we have for
our successful research project. Although email is not consider as an authentic
source but we have a reliable email source evidence that will highlight
reliability.
Pictures were not allowed to taken due to corporate restriction for its privacy
matters but we have two to three pictures that will prove our belongingness to
that visitation.
At last we have an essential document as well from the corporate itself probably
known as consent letter that will identify our visitation and discussion for our
project. It highlights the fact that we visited their company and they accepted
formally that we have to work on a particular area of the company, that might
be a problem or any opportunity and all the work would be given to us for or
research project and in the end we will give the applicable results that may base
with the previous knowledge and factors to proceed that point of improvement.
Managerial Implications & Significance:

Soorty Enterprises.pvt.ltd is one of the successful textile industry due to the

client such as denim, it creates value effectively that they are manufacturing
only denim fabrics. Managers at Soorty Enterprises are very cooperative in
communication, We as a research students went to soorty for discussion, and
they shared the data and basic concepts of production system with us. Soorty
Executives gave us the important significance about the managerial processes
and the implications that they discuss about the soorty’s main strategic
implications that soorty wants us to find as well the important factors which will
effect potentially on soorty’s strategies. Furthermore they intend to more
specifically observe the other industries as well, Pull and bear, jordache, etc.
