Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant
academic and non-teaching staff positions at the Federal College of Education
(Special), Oyo.
THE COLLEGE
The Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo is owned by the Federal Government
of Nigeria. It was established in 1977 with the mandate of producing specialized
teachers at the NCE level who upon graduation will be ingrained with skills and
competences that will enable them teach both “normal” and persons with special
needs in the primary school as well as the lower level of secondary education.
The College has the reputation of being the only one of its kind in the sub-Saharan
Africa. It has the largest concentration of special need students and faculties as well
as specialized equipment in special needs education that can be found in any tertiary
educational institution in Nigeria.
The College has grown over the years and presently has very large number of student
population of diverse cultural background, orientation and exposure. In addition, it
also has an increasing population of Degree students undergoing studies along with
the NCE students within the same campus.

teaching/research in a higher institution and possession of at least 6
conference papers and 4 journal articles.
iv) Assistant Lecturer: A good first degree or its equivalent (with at least
second class lower division) from a recognized university in relevant field
plus NYSC certificate with evidence of teaching qualification and computer
literacy.
b) Non-Teaching Positions
i) Principal Medical Officer: Candidate must possess a good honor degree
(MBBS) or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution,
registered with Nigeria Medical and Dental Council (NMDC) plus at least 12
years post qualification cognate experience in medicine.
ii) Programme Analyst II: Candidate must possess a good honor degree in
Computer Science / ICT with bias in Android/Python Programming.
iii) Assistant Education Officer (Brailling / Sign Language Interpreting):
Candidate must be a holder of NCE in Special Education with specialization
in Brailling / Education for the Hearing Impaired as the case may be.
5) GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
i) Candidates for academic positions must possess teaching qualifications not
below NCE as well as the professional qualification of the Teachers’
Registration Council of Nigeria.

6) METHOD OF APPICATION
Interested candidates are expected to submit twenty (20) copies of word
processed applications and Curriculum Vitae together with relevant credentials.
The Curriculum Vitae should among other information, should follow the order
below:
Post desired and department; full names with surname in capitals; Date and
place of birth; Nationality; State of origin and local government area; Marital
status; Number and ages of children; Present Postal Address; Permanent Home
Address; Educational Institutions attended with dates; Academic and Professional
qualifications with dates; Work experience; Present employer, status and salary;
list of publications in default (where applicable); Attendance at learned
conference with date; Extracurricular activities and Names and addresses of
three (3) referees whose confidential report on the candidate should be sealed
and submitted along with the application.

7) CLOSING DATE:
Applications are to reach the Registrar, together with referee reports, not
later than six weeks from the date of this publication. Candidates may also
forward their applications in soft copies to Registrar@fcesoyo.edu.ng.
Candidates who submit soft copies will be required to come along with twenty
(20) hard copies of the exact soft copies submitted if shortlisted for
interview. Only applications of shortlisted applicants will be acknowledged.
