United Sugars Plans Sugar Refinery in Gujarat

• United Sugars, a joint venture between Simbhaoli Sugars and ED & F Man Holdings (EDFM), UK is planning to set up a port
based refinery of raw sugar at Kandla, West Coast of Gujarat.
• The plant will have a processing capacity of 1,000 tonnes per day.
• The Rs.2280 million project is to be financed by way of long-term loans and promoters equity.
• As of February 2011, the project is in the planning stage.
• After achieving the financial closure, the project will be implemented in 16-18 months

Saint-Gobain Plans Solar PV Glass Plant

Project Details :

• Saint Gobain is planning to set up a new manufacturing plant for making base glass for solar photo voltaic modules.
• The plant will either be located at its existing Chennai Plant or Upcoming glass plant at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan.
• The proposed plant will manufacture glasses of Solar PV modules of capacity up to 500 MW.
• As of February 2011, the project is in the conceptual stage and the company is likely to make the final decision in March 2011.
• Meanwhile, the company's float glass project at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan is fast progressing.
