(a) Bill of Materials (BOM) and its uses.
(b) Bottlenecks, and principles of Bottleneck management.

Q.2. Describe the four basic types of production layouts (Fixed-position layout, Process-
oriented layout, Workcells, Repetitive and Product-oriented layout), and also draw the
layouts. [4]

Q.3. Explain the concept of Product Life Cycle, and the opportunities and challenges in
managing the operations in different stages of a Product’s Life cycle. [4]

Q.4. How are Labour standards established by time study? Explain with examples the
differences between job specialisation and job enlargement. [4]

Q.5. A production process at ProdCo is shown below. The drilling operation occurs separately
from, and simultaneously with, the sawing and sanding operations. The welded product
needs to go through only one of the three assembly operations. [Show all calculations].
