COURSE CODE Social Science 202

COURSE TITLE Politics and Governance with Philippine Constitution

COURSE DESCRIPTION An introduction to the basic concepts and tenets of political science focusing on politics, governance and
government. The course tackles the 1987 Philippine Constitution- the fundamental law of the land. It focused
on providing the interpretations on the Constitution specifically. This is a three unit course in the Philippine
Education System mandated by the Commission on Higher education (CHED) for the tertiary level.

COURSE OBJECTIVES At the end of the course, the students are expected to accomplish the following:

KNOWLEDGE LEVEL:
1. Describe the key concepts and theoretical approaches and frameworks of political analyst in
analyzing past and present developments of the Philippine government;
2. Be familiar with the current events/issues both national and global level that influenced political,
social and economic changes.

SKILL LEVEL:
1. Provide an Analysis Paper on the function of the branches of government and Bill of Rights;
2. Make a short film regarding the exercise of constitutional rights enshrined in the law.

ATTITUDE LEVEL:
1. Be mindful of the existing problems and issues in the community;
2. Ignite the sense of duty and commitment as citizen of the Republic;
3. Demonstrate the spirit of intellectual maturity by subscribing to the principles of the state;
4. Develop the sense of patriotism and nationalism to the Republic.
