Classroom Procedures

Beginning of class

Students should enter the classroom calmly and ready to learn. It is expected that they will be in

their assigned seats with their necessary materials by the time the bell rings. Classroom materials

needed for the day will be written on the whiteboard. Students should hang their backpack on the

back of their chair or place it under their desk so that aisles are left clear. The first 5 minutes of

class will be dedicated to bell work. During this time, they should make note of the objective

written on the white board and put it down in their planner. Then, they should write down the

essential question displayed on the screen and complete the bell work of the day which will also

be displayed on the screen. If students need to sharpen their pencil or borrow materials, they may

do so during this time. While students are completing the bell work, I will take attendance and

ensure that students have the things they need so that I can start my lesson.

Out of Room Policies

Students must ask for permission/notify the teacher before they leave class as a pass will be

given to them. Only one student will be permitted out of the classroom at a time. Every time

students leave the classroom; they must sign out on the clipboard by the door. They will write

their first and last name, their destination, and record the time they leave as well as the time they

return to class. To minimize disruptions, students will not be allowed to leave during direct

instruction time unless it is an emergency.

Seat Work

It is expected that students remain in their seats for the whole class period unless instructed

otherwise. They should not roam the class without a purpose or get out of their seats to distract

others. Students will sit in table groups of four and will work on their assignments either
individually or with their peers, depending on the instructions delivered. When working

collaboratively, students should use their indoor voices and collectively maintain an appropriate

volume. The learners should be respectful of their peers and their teacher, they should listen to

what others have to say and contribute to discussions as necessary.

End of Class

Work that is to be turned in at the end of the period will be dropped off by students at the

bookshelf by the door on their way out. Students should not pack up their belongings until the

bell rings or until I have instructed them to do so. I understand that students are often crunched

for time, so when possible, I will try to let them pack up one minute early. It is expected that the

learners remain in their seats until the dismissal bell rings. They should not cluster around the

door.

Materials and Equipment

Students are to come to every class ready to learn and with their necessary material which

include pens, pencils, erasers, composition book, and homework or other assignments. Every

now and then, there will be students who need to borrow basic materials. Pencils will be

provided by the teacher if needed, all the student needs to do is ask. Paper will also be readily

available for students. It will be set out in a tray in its designated classroom space and students

can just take some when needed.

Group Work

Students can expect to work with their table groups regularly. These table groups will be

assigned by me and will change for every unit. Therefore, learners should become comfortable

collaborating with one another and with all members of the classroom. Students should be

respectful of classmates at all times and should equally contribute to the work that needs to be
completed. Groupwork is meant for students to help each other out as social interactions during

this time are of great importance for their learning and development. To prevent one student

from doing all the work, each individual will have a specific role assigned to them. At the end of

each group assignment, a form will be filled out by all students in which they will provide me

with feedback about their collaboration with their peers.

Additional Policies/Procedures

Fire drill and lock down procedures will be carried out as outlined by the school. These policies

and procedures should be followed by students in a quite and calm manner in order to ensure

everyone’s safety. School assemblies will come up every now and then. On these days, the class

will quietly walk to the assembly together. Students are expected to stay with the group, which

means that we will all sit together. Students will be mindful of those around them and the

establishment they are in and will behave in an appropriate manner. Should any other special

circumstances arise, students are to remain calm and be mature about the situation at hand.
