Analyzer House for Petroleum Industry

GENERAL

Modcon Systems is a global provider of complete integrated analyzer systems. This includes all
related services, starting from its initial engineering design through the manufacturing and testing
process and the start-up in its final location.
To achieve maximum performance of stability and accuracy and a long lasting operational shelf
life, analyzers systems are installed in special analyzer houses with a conditioned environment.
Analyzer Houses include: Air-conditioning, power distribution, lighting, termination and junc-
tion boxes, gas and flame detection, relevant piping and wiring.
Analyzer Houses are also applied to install electri-
cal equipment that is not explosion proof or ATEX
approved. Maintaining a pressure higher than the
outside atmospheric pressure prevents penetra-
tion of air from the surrounding environment to
enter the analyzer house. Furthermore, the at-
mosphere inside the analyzer house is regulated
by diluting any occurring liberation of flammable
and explosive gasses to a concentration with a
none-hazardous level.
The Analyzer Houses are in general equipped with facilities for remote real time monitoring, diag-
nostics and maintenance via secured industrial network which are incorporated in the Analyzer
House. The choice of embedded routers using PSTN, ISDN, GPRS or EDGE technology results in a
complete remote access solution, where an incorporated Industrial Security System protects the
Industrial Networks from modern cyber-security attacks.

Base and frame:

The base frame is constructed of 150 x80 mm U steel profiles, 80mm vertical U profiles and
reinforced one 100 mm horizontal U profile with reinforcement perpendicular beams on the
wall which are suitable for hanging up a weight 20-30 kg.(?) The entire construction is sand
blasted and painted against corrosion.
Welding Method: Stitch are welded to frame, seam welded at plate to plate seams, skip-stitch
welded to all major, minor, and sub frame members.
Lifting Provisions: Four (4) bolt-on removable lifting lugs.
Options:
Frame Member Material: Carbon Steel or 304SS.

Walls and roof:

Wall and roofing are designed and constructed with materials to ensure maximum thermal iso-
lation between the inside temperature and the environmental temperature, and solar heat.
Wall and roofs are constructed by double steel walls of different types of materials, such as
stainless steel or galvanized steel. The walls are filled with 50-100 mm isolation material such as
foamed polyurethane or glass fibers.
Options:
Wall Material:
18 Gauge G90 Galvanized Interlocking Panels or 304SS.
or insulated polyurethane panels covered with 316 SS 1.5mm sheets.
Roof Material:
18 Gauge G90 Galvanized Interlocking Panels or 304SS.

Doors:
The analyzer houses are provided with one door at the side . The door has a transparent thick
safety glass window, which is centered at eye level The door opens outwards and is equipped
with a panic bar.

Ventilation:
Ventilation guarantees continuously dilution of any flammable gases or vapors, released inside
the housing, to reduce their concentration to below 20% of the Lower Explosion Limit (LEL) at
any time.

Options:
To prevent penetration of that atmosphere, the pressure inside the analyzer house is main-
tained at 0.00025 bar above the external atmospheric pressure.

Provision at least 5 volume changes per hour to ensure adequate mixing of the internal atmos-
phere, and to dilute any flammable gas or vapor, that escapes under normal operation, to a non
-hazardous level.

Air conditioning
An air conditioning system is installed in the analyzer house / shelter to cool the internal air.
The two air conditioning units are designed to operate in a hazard-classified area (explosion
proof). If required, air conditioning is designed and incorporated to withstand extreme temper-
ature and/or high-humidity conditions. The heater surface temperature will not exceed the
temperature as allowed by the area classification. Shielding the heater sheath protects person-
al against accidental contact.

Options:
The Air conditioning system can be fully redundant units with an automatic switchover in case
of failure.

Gas detection system

Shelters are equipped with internal gas detectors: LEL detectors, H 2S detectors, O2 detectors
and Smoke detectors, and alarms. In case hazardous conditions are detected, actuate flashlight
and a siren will be activated

REMOTE FACILITIES

As per requested specification, the analyzer houses and shelters are equipped have facilities for
remote real time monitoring and diagnostics of the analyzer systems. Secured connection to
the networks, by internet or extranet, are established by routers.
