A- What does unity mean?

➢Unity is an important element in good paragraph.


Unity means that a paragraph discusses one and only main idea from
beginning to end.
B- How to ensure unity?
1- The paragraph must have one controlling idea in the topic
sentence. Otherwise it loses focus.

2-Every supporting sentence must directly explain or prove the


controlling idea, previously stated in the topic sentence, with
examples, details, steps , or definitions.

3-The concluding sentence should restate the idea in the topic


sentence, or the main idea might not be clear.
