Lesson (unit/page) English Student teacher Fakhra almazrouei

Phonics
MST Oriana School AlEzza school

Class Grade 1 Date 4-11-2019

Select
What standards or LOs were being addressed in the lesson? At the end of the lesson students will be able to
write the key words of the lesson and they will know how to write the letter correctly.
How did you cater for learners with special needs, and for differentiation? The students are divided into 4
groups (1:Low level with behaviors, 2:high level, 3:medium to high level, 4: low level with no behavior.)
Special needs students has their own assistant teacher that’s sits with them and work by the teachers
instructions.
How did you use positive reinforcement? Methods? For what? I used ClassDojo for the students to manage
them, ClassDojo did not work for all the students, I used the other method where I put the students list and
whom ever do something wrong will get an X and will not play outside on Thursday.
How did you sequence or scaffold activities so that they built gradually towards the learning objectives?
There was lack of activities because we had to go through the whole book and to make sure that we finish
the book on time before the term ends.
Overall aim and context of the lesson (that is, describe the lesson’s place in the unit of work. What did
students need to know before today’s LOs were addressed? What topic comes next and how did today’s
lesson prepare students for that?) I used to prepare my lesson plan before three days of the lesson day, to
see if the students need more activities and if they need help in some of the categories.

The Learning objectives were prepared from other teachers in the school and they were given to use just to
apply them in class.

The lessons I taught where all about phonics.

Describe
Who is the lesson for? The lesson I taught were for Grade 1 students and I taught the same lesson for Six
different sections (A, B, C, D, E, F).
Where did the lesson take place? The lesson was taught in the classrooms (indoor)
What were you aiming to achieve in your lesson? In this lesson I focused on being able to manage the
students with behaviors where I let them work more than other students.
What experiences did you provide to the students to help them to achieve your aims for them?
Analyze
Were students excited, always occupied, and remained on task during the lesson? I get the students
attention in the beginning of the class where I start by putting points for the student who sits in the carpet
quietly and without disturbing others. And when I see the students lose track or get disturbed by others, I
return to ClassDojo and start giving points again (I take points from the students who are making noise and
disturbed others.
Why do you think the students responded the way that they did? At the end of the week the student who
has more points will be the star of the week and all of the students wants to be and they will act good to get
it.
How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding? I keep asking questions about
previous lessons to make sure that the students understood that lesson.

Appraise
Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective.
Did your lesson meet your teaching goals? Use your students’ performance on the end of lesson
assessment as support (Give proof in your portfolio)
The students were enjoying the lesson because there were some extra activities that they are not used to,
and they wanted to know more about it and to do it.
At the end of the lesson I achieved my learning outcomes because I assessed the students to what they
learned.

Transform
How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
What are the implications for your professional practice of helping students to enhance their learning in
this particular way? (i.e. what skill will you have to develop or learn? What professional development will
you have to undertake?)
in future, I would like to improve my skills in time management and to have verity of ideas about making the
lesson fun.
